Empathy, Accuracy, and Credibility
National Review ^ | September 28, 2018 | VICTOR DAVIS HANSON

Posted on 09/28/2018 1:37:26 PM PDT by reaganaut1

It is considered taboo even to suggest that an emphatic Professor Ford at times was inexact and inconsistent in her prior written and current Senate testimonies.

But the result of her sometimes-moving account still remains that she seems to have little recollection of how her still-private therapist’s notes or versions of notes ended up in the hands of the Washington Post and were to be used as corroborating evidence — even though they at times seem to have contradicted elements of versions of her allegations.

Ford, unfortunately, seems to have little memory of how her original letter requesting anonymity surfaced in the media. Nor does anyone else in the small number who had access to it. Ford, apparently, has little recollection of an offer — widely reported in the media — from Senate members to fly out to California to alleviate her anxieties about flying. Strangely, she did not explain how such a fear of flying contradicted her own record of relatively recent and extensive flying both for business and leisure.

One wished that Ford could at last have named one witness who could corroborate her allegations that the 17-year-old Brett Kavanaugh assaulted her 36 years ago in a place where witnesses were apparently present, or at least produced convincing evidence that the testimonies of those alleged to be at the party who had no memory of her narratives were sorely mistaken.

Ford might have been deemed more credible had she just been able to locate the scene of the alleged assault, or to explain how and why the alleged gender and number of those at the scene of the alleged assault were not reported by her consistently, or to remember how she arrived and left the scene.

Great, a deep thinking useless editorial is what we need...no, we need votes to confirm, not analyze what we already know.

Here’s truth:

PDJT has to be steaming mad, throwing things by now because Flake is not up for re-election and he hates PDJT because he is a poop-smeared swamp rat.

Anyone here dumb enough to think Graham didn’t know this was coming, with his swamp pal Flake???

Birds of a feather.

Graham was one act in a several act play. Act II is the week delay, all planned.

Friends with McCain, then, friends with PDJT? No.

They will delay, then delay again, then decide to not vote.

I am not sure what PDJT can do, but if he has dirt on these filthy swamp rats, it is time to drop some MOABs.

Inexact and inconsistent? She was completely unbelievable.

She admitted under oath the only way she could have gotten home was someone driving her.

Yet she said she ran out of the house alone. And she can’t remember who drove her home, after such an attack? Complete and utter B.S.

She was obviously trying to manipulate people with her baby voice that probably has worked against her parents and men all her life.

And she was consciously part of the bad faith Dem strategy to delay.

She says she might remember when it happened if they would only investigate Mark Judge and his summer job? Riiiiiight.

And no one can believe the lies about her not being able to fly to DC or that she was never told the Committee would fly out to see her if she wished.

This whole charade is about summer doings about juveniles in Montgomery County MD.

Send all of her 36-year old allegations under seal to Montgomery County Juvenile Court to protect the names of those who were minors at the time and let that be the end of it.

Prof fraud is a liar. I believe the whole thing was made up. She had 2 weeks of intensive preparation by her maoist lawyers. She knew what to say and how to sound. Her references to “Brett” made me sick. How does a victim, refer to their assailant, by his first name after just 1 alleged meeting?

I hope the FBI investigation goes both ways. Future liars must learn that perjury in front of a senate committee will not go unpunished.

I hope it turns out that Mark Judge never worked at that store.

She (through her attorney) said that she could not make the hearing this past Monday because she “was afraid to fly.”

Yet, she’s been on vacations and business trips that required her to fly - many times.

Yet, SHE FLEW TO WASHINGTON FOR THIS HEARING!!!!!!

END of her credibility, regardless of WHATEVER ELSE she says!!!!

This is utter BS, every victim remembers every little detail of an attack. I heard someone say that they can no longer even eat certain foods because the smell reminds them of the attack. But she can’t remember when or where the attack took place, how she got there, or how many people were present at a small party. She admits to being drunk at the time - i.e. that her mental faculties were compromised at the time.

NOT ONE of the so-called witnesses that she cited has confirmed her story in ANY detail.

Over 200 women who have known Kavanaugh since high school and either were fellow students, fellow workers or were employed by him have ALL said that he never did anything of this sort, and was a perfect gentleman on ALL occasions. Note that sexual predators NEVER change their stripes, and CANNOT just stop abusing people...so where is the abuse in the intervening 35+ years? 6 different FBI investigations have found NOTHING like this, at all.

This woman is a lying sack of schit, who hates Kavanaugh because:

1) She’s a Bernie-bot and despises Trump, conservatism and the very idea of a Constitution-bound Supreme Court; and

2) Kavanaugh’s mother was the judge in a case that got her own parents tossed out of their house in the mid-1990s. So she has clear motive to lie - REVENGE!

Every single thing about this case SCREAMS that she has NO CREDIBILITY and is lying.

And the person who drove her home wouldn’t have noticed that her clothes were torn, her hair messed up, she was crying, etc.? That person wouldn’t have told the parents or the authorities? BULL F’ING SCHIT!!!!

They are all afraid to tell the truth.

Ford looked mentally disturbed.

It’s not outside the realm of possiblity that whoever
drove her home, took advantage of her shaken condition
and assaulted her themselves and that is what she remembers.

Just saying.

Great, a deep thinking useless editorial is what we need...no . . .

Since the deep-thinking editorial is by Dr. Victor Davis Hanson, a respected professor of history and perhaps the most influential conservative thinker, I'd say that, yes, that is what we need. West Point uses books he has written and edited as texts in several of their courses, and even the Left listens to him (or used to before Trump Derangement Syndrome).

So what if he did?

If he did, it doesn't really show anything other than maybe that it occurred in the summer of '82 rather than another year.

But if he didn't, it's damning proof that she's a liar. BTW, it's also totally bizarre that she said she entered the store at a different door than her mother entered, because she didn't want to be seen with her mother.

Only a flaming nut would insist on two front doors, when every one knows all McMansions also have back doors and most even have side doors. Her husband was right to get her into therapy. ;-)

My house = front door, back door, side door from the bedroom to the outside where my dogs are. My dogs "got my back." Each are 80 pounds of pure love. If an a person tried to hurt my wife or I they would be confused for a few seconds and then go CUJO on them. Dogs smell fear and know the sound of fear in ones voice. They then act appropriately.

Well you know when they get to an awkward age
sometimes teens don’t want to be seen with mommy or daddy in public esp. in front of the opposite sex.

I know, I went on my last family vacation when I was
17, I already had made a bus trip independently
and I thought I was all grown up, embarrassed to be in
front of my much older parents (40 and 34 years)

I was an insufferable little puke on that trip (to Montreal in front of many little cuties) but I knew I was, I apologized many times in years after. Part of
growing up.

I have to agree with the other.

I have spent my life as a thinker: genius IQ, 99%ile in both language and mathematics.

Precisely for that reason, I am not as impressed by VDH and such others at times like these.

The Think Tank crowd gave us so-called free trade and so-called nation building.

I did not vote for a rhetorician in voting for Trump. The nation is hanging in the balance.

I love good prose and good poetry. I used to enjoy reading VDH. No more. Rhetoric is not going to accomplish anything lasting if the UniParty and Deep State are not stopped.

The left listens to VDH? Prove it. Cite it. Show that those who are actively destroying Rule of Law listen to him.
