Absolutely brilliant, cutting edge work by Busby Berkeley. Especially considering the technology available in that era.

Both the movie and the TV show. Hefti also worked with Steve Allen for years on his TV show.

Steve Allen wrote some terrific songs.

I love :

“This could be the start of something big”

I am ready! The shoot trip comes up next week! LOL! Which means that my tunes next weekend might be sketchy, depending on the wifi connection.

I was very young when he was on TV but I remember really liking him.

I also loved Ernie Kovacs. Like him, I have a quirky sense of humor!

Kovacs was a brilliant innovator. That accident on Santa Monica Blvd. robbed us of a great talent. I loved the effect of a coffee grinder playing the original German version of “Mack the Knife.”

Wow...I just looked it up.

Steve Allen’s Show was from 1956 to 1960.

That means I watched him from the ages of 4 to 8. And I STILL remember how much I liked him!

THE GREAT AMERICAN SONGBOOK

HARRY WARREN

DAMES:”I ONLY HAVE EYES FOR YOU”

This 1949 recording is from Errol’s early years, and it’s a slow dance.

This is a special weekend because the song turned out to be a workhorse in every genre of music. Tonight I take us up to 1960, and tomorrow night up to the present.
