money quote:

And even if an accuser went to the local department, the statute of limitations appears to have long since passed for pursuing the allegations described in Thursday’s dramatic Senate Judiciary Committee hearing.

The most serious allegation that authorities could pursue, given the sworn testimony provided by Ford, would be attempted rape. But that was considered a misdemeanor in Maryland in 1982, and that would be the relevant legal standard.

Also, he was a minor at the time. So even if anything legally had been pursued at the time, any such juvenile record would.have been sealed.

What a circus. I am so frustrated at all of this.

Montgomery County law enforcement officials have already issued a written statement on this same subject. The statute of limitations information that you provided is correct.

No police department is going to initiate any investigation without a complaint.

The same reason Maryland isn’t investigating the crimes Edgar Alan Poe tabulated in his books.

Now the left is really going for the jackpot.

Hire a Mueller to investigate BK for as many years as it takes to find or manufacture whatever it takes to make him unemployable and put him in prison.

The new Progressive paradigm has been set.

It's my understanding that at the time that Ford claims these events happened Maryland had a 1 year statute of limitations on allegations such as these.I believe that at some point later they did away with the statute of limitations...but that move wouldn't effect events that might have occurred before the move due to the prohibition against “ex post facto” laws.

Plus the statute of limitations has run out.

I'm not big on "chess" theory, but is it possible that the men who came forward saying they were the ones who assaulted Ford now have the green light to go public since they can't be prosecuted? Does Grassley know this? Is this whole new investigation a big trap that is about to be sprung on the 'rats right before the midterms?

Please God, let this be true.

“I want to report a crime”

“Ok, when did it occur?”

“I’m not sure exactly. Some time about four decades ago”

“Where did it take place?”

“I’m not sure”

So while Democratic state lawmakers have asked Hogan to initiate an investigation within Maryland, he is not planning to do so. Instead, he is calling for an unspecified independent investigator, who would presumably report to federal officials.

Watch this happen soon. They just make it up as they go.

Hogan’s spokeswoman said last week...

Why would a statement be given last week and why would the statement not being published until today?

Statute of limitations and it was a non-event, never mind she can’t remember enough details and supposed witnesses deny it.

“...attempted rape. But that was considered a misdemeanor in Maryland in 1982...”

Most likely downgraded due to the Kennedy Klan, the Clinton Crime Cabal or other elected Democrat pervs with a penchant for young women, running the state at the time.
