I should have been clearer: I told my wife that I knew MD would try a criminal prosecution because sworn testimony is enough to start criminal proceedings.

The current law for attempted rape, without SoL, is insane.

Around 1982. It could have been later. Maybe 2017.

The statute was one year for misdemeanor assault in 1982 and still is but the law has changed and there is not statute of limitation in Maryland on rape. As the letter states, were the crime in question one occurring prior to the law changing, that person would be held to those standards.
