I don’t think Trump has a choice. The Senate confirmation is being held hostage by Flake, Collins and Murkowski. He either goes along with the FBI investigation farce, or he has to nominate someone else.
Then he should nominate someone else. Plenty of good conservative judges. Likely less of a drunkard too.
Bigger principles here. The entire GOP electorate was united after Ks testimony then the GOP threw that all away for one lame duck asshole Senator.

. . . who are negotiating for the lobbyists who own them. A HUGE payoff is waiting for them at the end of the rainbow. The delay is cover; follow the money.
