The U.S. Navy has awarded contracts for 10 new Arleigh Burke-class destroyers from General Dynamics Bath and Huntington Ingalls Industries.
"The Navy saved $700 million for these 10 ships by using multiyear procurement contracts rather than a single year contracting approach," said James F. Geurts, the assistant secretary of the Navy for R&D and acquisition. "We also have options for an additional five DDG-51s to enable us to continue to accelerate delivery of the outstanding DDG-51 Flight III capabilities to our naval force."
The two contract awards include $3.9 billion for General Dynamics for four destroyers from FY2019 through FY2022, and $5.1 billion for Huntington Ingalls for six destroyers from FY2018 through FY2022

Good point. Electric boat, not Bath. I guess I was just thinking about the company.
However, you still can’t throw out the baby with the Bath water. Wishing for Maine to go away sounds just like wishing for California to fall into the sea.
Nice! One of them should be named after Trump, then maybe Admiral Rogers.
Bath Iron works is not an essential shipyard, like, say Newport News or Electric Boat, and has been close to going out of business many times. It is there for political convenience to buy senators. If the Senators are unreliable, the shipyard can go away. It’s politics.
Trump deserves a carrier. Bush, Reagan and Ford got one each.
Not likely. Nor does the entire DOD.
Just a bunch of 80s “In the Navy” types updated for our modern era—transgendered horny confused mamas perfumed prince peter tweeters.
Command of a fighting ship??!! yikes
This may be the new design.... : )

#25 I would rename them all to naval battles or the men who fought in them. No politicians. It is how we got the Jimmy Carter.
