PETER HITCHENS: It's one rule for Clinton, and another for Trump's judge: Why is Brett Kavanaugh...
DailyMail.com ^ | 9/29/2018 | Peter Hitchens

The biggest thing that didn't happen this year was the final collapse of Bill Clinton's reputation. The former US President, and his warmongering and strangely supportive wife Hillary, have somehow managed to escape the great ultra-feminist frenzy that has brought down so many men from their pedestals of power and reputation.

Personally, I'm not especially troubled by Bill's survival. Against my own will, I almost like the terrible old monster. I was once bathed in his chicken-fried charm for a delightful, unforgettable minute when I slipped uninvited into a White House event and asked him an awkward question about Ireland. Ah, I thought, so this is what they mean by charisma. He may have helped the IRA to win, but he didn't invade Iraq. There are worse men, and worse women.

In any case, I'm not in favor of ruining people's lives on the basis of ancient, uncorroborated claims. And I'm less and less interested in other people's sexual doings.

Morals are about what we do when we think nobody is looking. They are not about denouncing other people for doing things that we wouldn't do ourselves.

But the current attempt to destroy Brett Kavanaugh, nominated for the US Supreme Court, raises a huge question of hypocrisy and inconsistency.....

But here is the inconsistency. Why is Mr. Kavanaugh being barbecued by the US Senate, while Bill Clinton goes unscathed? Well, yes, they did try and fail to convict Mr. Clinton at his impeachment, but it was the very people who voted against the charges who are now trying to unhorse Mr. Kavanaugh. It is plainly about politics, not personal morals.....

Peter Hitchens is no fan of DJT but he is positively absolutely no fan of "sexual inquisitions". He's seen the scourge devastate his own country and recoils.

He also recoils at the hypocrisy. Bill Clinton versus Brett Kavanaugh.

And only Peter Hitchens would dare to suggest in the ened traditional moral values as a solution to any real sexual wrongdoing going on out there.

Except this: Clinton is guilty. Brett isn’t.

Why is Judge Kavanaugh being barbecued by the US Senate, while Bill Clinton goes unscathed?

Hitchens has a tin ear for what's going on in the present case; he assumes it's a question of sexual morality and the hypocrisy of pursuing one instance of it while ignoring the other.

The actual reason Judge Kavanaugh is being "barbecued" is that if, he is confirmed, the left fears that there might be one fewer abortion performed in the United States. Nothing more.

The Left made fun of Pence when he said he wouldn’t have dinner alone with a woman not his wife. In the wake of the Left’s Kavanaugh Confirmation Circus, he appears to be a prescient moral genius.

It all boils down to baby killing for the feminists. The clintons are for it. DJT and Pence and Kavanaugh are against it.

Peter Hitchens, like Melanie Phillips (who couldn't be bothered to spell Lindsey Graham's name right yesterday), has no business talking about American politics because they are fairly ignorant about its complexities. Doesn't stop them from bloviating.

I suppose, though, he's entitled to be “charmed” by Bill Clinton. Moron.

This all stops and the big mouths stop when we finally start to bring these corrupt criminals to justice and they are looking at time behind bars. All it takes is one bird singing to bring down the house of cards. We need a commission along with the repaired FBI and DOJ ....TO GET THE JOB RUNNING

Why is Mr. Kavanaugh being barbecued by the US Senate, while Bill Clinton goes unscathed?

It's not about anything Kavanaugh did or anything Ford has said.
The Left know Kavanaugh will tilt SCOTUS to the right for decades. Plus, they are looking down the road as Buzzy and the (un)wise Latina don't have much time.

The Left fear that Trump will be able to appoint more justices to the Court, pushing it further to the right. Dems will scorch the earth and destroy America before they will accept conservative rule.

There’s a lot of rage when it comes to abortion, there can be no doubt.

Militancy to the hilt, an “enemy” driving the feminist zealots.

And heck, I think Brett Kavanaugh is a “moderate” in terms of the GOP.

His rulings will probably surprise them on the court.

But what’s being done to him, I hope he and Justice Clarence Thomas have the chance to exchange experiences and how they went forward after being tortured like that.

I have no confidence in the FBI or DOJ right now.

Bureaucratic turf that will not be seriously affected in the end, only symbolically.

Do we have any evidence that Kavanaugh would have tilted the court to the right? Or that Roe vs Wade would be overturned with him on the bench? The only reason I want him confirmed now is because I don’t like the Senate being turned into a killing field.
