Why Judicial Confirmation Battles Keep Getting Longer and More Vicious
National Review ^ | September 25, 2018 | John R. Lott, Jr.

Judicial confirmations have become a blood sport. Wasn’t it just weeks ago at John McCain’s funeral that Democrats were calling for more civility in politics? We never used to fight so much over Supreme Court nominations.

“I don’t remember the Sotomeyer and Kagan hearings as being contentious.”

Because they were not. If and when the Rats get another nominee fair and respectful treatment of the candidate will return. Had they killed Scalia a little earlier Garland would have been asked what his favorite color and then received 15-20 GOP votes.

The Demoncrats always call for civility just before they try to rip your throat out.

Because baby-killing is the Prime Directive of the Democrat party; if they lose it they have nothing.

The incivility will end when the Republicans have 61 votes in the Senate. Until then, the Bolshekrats think they are the majority party and have wrongfully had their power taken away.

Mitch and fellows were elected to stop the string of PC incompetents to the Supreme Court.

The vileness ALWAYS goes in one direction.

Thomas smeared.

Bork borked.

Kavanaugh savaged.

Well-known radical leftist Ginsburg approved 96-3.

Have any well-intentioned individuals who have been Democrat voters not noticed that the “side” they have chosen uses “scorched-earth” methods to impose their Party’s agenda, and, when thwarted, as in 2016, refuse to accept the political results and resort to intimidation tactics never-before-tolerated or encouraged in America?

Only on the GOP side. I wonder if the GOP can match this.

The original hearing was incivil enough but it is apparent that the Senate Judiciary Committee needs to institute a “speak now or forever hold your peace” rule. In litigation, civil and criminal, you can’t raise an issue in the trial which wasn’t raised before the trial began.

Unfortunately, you certainly can’t count on the TV or newspapers as a means to find out what is going on. I had some time available and sort-of got sucked into the drama of this, and FR is still the best way I know, but it takes a lot of reading and your own analysis.

Grassley DID handle the committee. He got the vote out of the committee on schedule, with reset for Princess-Pea and her last-minute Sex charges. BK was recommended to be confirmed by the committee to the full Senate.

He did some very good work to make this happen against absolutely intransigent opposition.

The votes are still NOT there in the Senate, last I have seen, and it is not just Flake. There are other R’s that are more solid No votes than him.

The FBI “investigation” to see if there is any “there” there in Princess-Pea and the others is taking place during time already required to elapse before a full Senate vote.

Trump is using this time to have rallies in states where week Senate Dems exist calling them liars and worse. They’ll have to break with Schumer to have any chance this November.

So, be of good cheer. Stay away from TV. And laugh at the desperate headlines that I think are “woking” a lot of deplorables, out there.

Why Judicial Confirmation Battles Keep Getting Longer and More Vicious?

Because the Democrats and the Left know that with Kavanaugh, it’s pretty much a 5-4 court, tilting very much to the “Right”. They also know that Ginsburg isn’t going to last much longer, which could lead to a 6-3 court to the “Right”. Their fantasy is over at that point.

When the President is re-elected, or even if Pence takes the office, Thomas can retire knowing that he’s being properly replaced. Throw in Sotomayor, with her medical problems and the fact that she doesn’t seem to be the “loyal leftist” on the court the way Ginsburg is(could be wrong) and Breyer is 80. It may sound like a complete longshot, but there’s a chance that Kagan could end being the only Liberal on the court by the time this is all over.

That happens and every single, solitary Leftist wish is down the drain. Toss in the fact that he’s stacking the lower courts and who the hell knows what can happen.

Only want two things out of the whole thing: Kavanaugh on SCOTUS ...and... someone/some entity to challenge and put an end to Birthright Citizenship, to stop the never ending flood of 3rd world ugly that comes to the US, every day, looking for a handout.

Obama’s two Nutcase Leftist SCOTUS Nominations passed through the Process without a whimper.

The Headline should have had the word Republican in it.

Shouldn’t new FBI investigations be launched into Kagan and Sotomayor? How do we know they weren’t hiding something?

That’s how two political leftist hacks are on SCOTUS right now.

Remember that Hatch said a President is entitled to his picks and recommended Ruth Bader Ginsburg to Clinton as someone who would sail through confirmation?

Because baby-killing is the Prime Directive of the Democrat party;

If you don't think a big part of the GOP thinks the same thing, you haven't been paying attention. The law is exactly what congress wants it to be else they would change it. Same with taxes and immigration. The GOP has hid their true nature behind the courts and filibuster all of my life and I remember when FDR died.
