We are talking Montgomery County though right on DC border as you know. I dont dispute your memory though...I live just outside Annapolis and weve had Safeway as long as I remember and thats well before 80s
I’ve lived in the region since the mid-1960s. There were no Albertsons in this area at that time. In Montgomery County, most folks I knew thought Giant was better than Safeway (although the reverse was true out with us working class folks in PG).
In the late 70s/ early 80s, Giant and Safeway had something of a duopoly. Between them, they had about 85% of the regional market.
We used to have A&P, but they eventually went out of business. At the lower end, we started to get folks like Shopper’s, Food Lion, Basics (I think they may have been a subsidiary of Giant). Into the 90s and 00s, we started to get Wegmans, Harris Teeter, etc.
But the 80s belonged to Safeway and Giant.
After the Democratic Party attempted to have Kavanaugh arrested on Saturday, Maryland officials reiterated their findings that by their standards, the worst charges possible, would carry with them a one year statute of limitations.Consider, Dear Reader: This whole thing is about a complaint so overwhelming serious that a complainant has a whole year to take the issue to the police. One. Year.. . . and over that minor a charge - and too vague and unsupported to even merit a search warrant, and referring back 36 years - we are to think that an extremely qualified man for an important post should be rejected and humiliated??
Oh.
come.
on.
now.We sit too long on trifles.
I dont know, I dont live anywhere near there, Im just telling you what I read from women who lived near there and went to Potomac Village. I just looked and Judge just said he worked for a supermarket for a few weeks in the summer.
What I find strange is how she could have run into him and she said Hi. If you ran into a supposed attacker wouldnt you turn around and run?
The shopping carts at the Safeway were corralled outside. CBF said she went inside the store and saw Mark Judge organizing shopping carts. She lied. Why would he collect them from the parking lot and navigate them into the store only to turn around and put them in the fenced in coral outside the entrance There was also a Deli that sold Kegs of beer across the street. There was also a very small grocer called the Potomac Grocer where everyone got custom cuts of beef.
If they voted to advance the motion to the floor vote, it would be very difficult for them to vote no, unless the investigation finds something.
I don't believe it will.
If I ran across someone who had just participated in an attempted rape of me there is no way I wouldn’t have immediately turned and ran! I WOULD NOT HAVE SPOKEN TO THEM!!!!!!!!
DI-FI’s spy case should be top of the list, her husband has Extensive ties to the Chinese. And all the Gov’t contracts she’s funneled to his business.
And yet, just like the Titanic, the lefty-band plays on.
Dianne Feinstein on her twitter feed is doubling down - saying that BK’s calendar is full of hateful rhetoric towards women (if you, nudge-nudge-wink-wink read between the lines).
I keep sending her photos of “Bob Ewell” from “To Kill a Mockingbird” with a note that this is who she reminds me of.
I for one would like to know what was in Sheila Jackson Lee’s envelope.
I came to DC in ‘79. Back then and for years after, Safeway dominated the city and Giant dominated the suburbs. Which sheds no light at all on whether there was a Safeway in Potomac Village at the intersection of Falls Road and River Road in the early 1980’s. There is now. This is FR, so someone will probably be along with the answer soon.
Has anyone investigated HER background?

Interest tid-bit here....Best of all her husband... Keep in mind
they married in 2002....2002
Her husband is quoted in the Post story to back her up. The article alleges that Ford first revealed the incident in couples therapy with her husband in 2012, (2012) and it quotes therapist notes that describe what she said, although they dont mention Kavanaugh by name.
((((Does anyone know when Trump first said anything about running for president?))))
Her husband Russell verified that she told him about the incident at that time in an interview with the Post and recalled that his wife used Kavanaughs last name and voiced concern that Kavanaugh then a federal judge might one day be nominated to the Supreme Court.
I think this farce was hatched long ago.. dems are like mooslims...biding their time.
I wouldn’t know. When we first married, we thought we might like to move out that way. We knew folks who lived over there. We explored. We ate at the pizza joint in the shopping center. We wanted to flee PG Co (who could blame us), and we looked extensively through the 80s and 90s. But, other than to buy a single item or two that we coincidentally needed while over that way, we never shopped at that Safeway.
As the area got increasingly dense, and the prices completely ludicrous. We actually put in a bid on a place over there, but, thank God, were outbid. We wound up going in the other direction, and eventually moved out to AA Co, where the home prices were merely stupid, not ludicrous.
Now we’re plotting our next move. Out of Maryland altogether.
What was in the damn envelope Sheila Jackson Lee gave to the bearded former Clinton lawyer?
That just seems so BASIC..
There’s no way they’re working pro-bono.....none. Somebody is paying under the table.
What Ford claims happened was considered a misdemeanor when where she claims it happened.
