The term..Cultural protection, as it relates to this trade deal actually means Telecomm, Banking and Media. The dairy part is big and the “Side Letters” relates mostly to Auto and Auto Parts...which is MUCH bigger. Canada will have to start manufacturing the products they sell to the US instead of buying from China to resell to us. Same with Mexico.

President Trump used Jared Kushner as his “Good Cop” to Head Negotiator Lighthiser’s “Bad Cop”. It had nothing to do with any other business or politician.

Canada no longer manufactures anything. Their environmentalists and politicians have driven plants out of the country. They buy all their parts from China, put them together and sell the finished product to the US. Mexico has been doing the same thing. So if you buy an alternator for your car and it says “made in Canada” it is really made in China.
That’s why Ford was moving plants to Mexico. Not as much for the cheaper labor, but for the much. much cheaper parts. China was getting around trade limits that way for years. That’s all over with now. Now you know why President Trump came down hard on Ford and threatened a 30% tariff on Ford products coming from Mexico.
Make no mistake...this is a HUGE win for the US.
