Flake: I sometimes feel like I'm 'without a party'
The Hill ^ | 10/01/18 1 | MICHAEL BURKE

Posted on 10/01/2018 8:45:41 PM PDT by yesthatjallen

Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) said Monday evening that he sometimes feels like he doesn't belong to a political party.

“I sometimes feel like a man temporarily without a party,” he said during a speech at the New Hampshire Institute of Politics at Saint Anselm College, according to The Washington Post.

Flake also criticized his party during the speech, saying members of the GOP have "given in to the terrible tribal impulse that first mistakes our opponents for our enemies."

“And then we become seized with the conviction that we must destroy that enemy," he said.

Flake's speech came days after he voted in the Senate Judiciary Committee to confirm Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. He also said at the time, however, that he would support Kavanaugh in the full Senate only if there were first an FBI investigation into accusations of sexual misconduct against the nominee.

Flake's call for an investigation, and Republican Sens. Susan Collins's (Mass.) and Lisa Murkowski's (Alaska) subsequent support of Flake's suggestion, prompted President Trump to ask the FBI to reopen its background investigation into Kavanaugh.

Flake said Monday that the investigation needs to be a "real investigation," according to the Post.

“It does no good to have an investigation that just gives us more cover,” Flake said. “We actually need to find out what we can find out. And we have to realize that we may not be able to find out everything that happened.”

The Senate currently plans to vote on Kavanaugh "this week," according to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.).

All three - Murkowski, Collins and Flake will - and I guarantee this - will demand a more and more “real investigation” as the weeks and months proceed. Even if the republicans hold congress, they’ll keep folding and offering only token resistance to the mob.

If he were to become a Democrat, he would find that there are hundreds ahead of him in terms of Presidential seniority.

>>>Believe the Democratic Senator from West Virginia will vote yes. Republicans can lose two votes<<<

That would be awesome and hilarious at the same time, just like winning the Powerball Lottery.

The only way Schumer would permit anyone from his Caucus to Vote Yes is if Kavanaugh already had the Votes.

That being said, I will cling to your prediction. LOL

Whose fault was that Breck girl? I swear AZ voters are running neck and neck with Mass. voters on who can vote for the most unqualified and dumbest idiots for office.

Flake’s going to vote No. That means we will have to rely on the two other Republican women Senators.

I believe when he made that agreement in front of the committee on Friday he knew in his mind he would never vote yes but struck that bargain anyway.

He is a liar just like Ford and Rameriz

Sadly, I don’t think Manchin will vote Yes if any Republicans vote No.

He might if we only lose flakey Flake since VP Pence would be the deciding Vote anyway. If the girls bail, that’s it.

I’ll bet Chuck the Schmuck has already given him the green light if that happens. Anything to keep the WV Senate Seat.

“I sometimes feel like a man temporarily without a party,”

Let’s make it permanent then.
