Hey buddy! Hope you didn’t think I was disparaging Italians. I wasn’t, and I am not serious about calling in...you know. But I’ll say this - I remember the Italian neighborhoods where I grew up. If people committed crimes against widows in the neighborhood, well, they knew how to deal with things.
Disparaging? What is this, Kos?
We don’t give a #### about non PC stuff here :)
I have deceased uncles who had illustrious careers in the mafia (which of course doesn’t exist!)
All the other Italian men in my family got civilized and moved to South Jersey.
I forget to get civilized and still live on Staten Island
My father grew up in Baltimore and has talked about the 1968 riots and the lines that were drawn. During the curfew, Little Italy operated as normal and the restaurants were all open. There were armed men on the rooftops and patrolling the streets and everyone felt safe.
The rioters dare not cross the line.
Same here. Took care of things "South Philly style."
