Nah, no magic. The figure of 87% is the percentage who claim to be Muslim. The law here requires that you declare yourself to be one of seven approved religions, and millions of people who do not practice any religion or are not one of the approved beliefs say they are Muslim just to get along. 80-82% is a more accurate estimate.
The share of Christians may be higher and Muslims lower, as there have been a lot of conversions to Christianity.
