As the Gang-Rape Claims Against Kavanaugh Fall Apart, Will Anyone Rethink Their Approach?
National Review ^ | October 2, 2018 | David French

Of all the dispiriting things that have occurred since the start of the Brett Kavanaugh sexual-assault controversy, the overwhelmingly credulous and furious response to Julie Swetnick’s gang-rape claims is perhaps the most disappointing. Her claim was wildly implausible on its face, featuring her repeated attendance at parties where women were being gang-raped, personally witnessing Kavanaugh in line to rape a woman, and claims that Kavanaugh personally drugged or “spiked” the punch at these parties to facilitate rape.

These things allegedly happened in full view of many non-victim witnesses. There were allegedly multiple victims. Yet the only person to come forward was Swetnick, through none other than Michael Avenatti — lawyer for porn star Stormy Daniels. She didn’t tell her story through a reputable news outlet. She didn’t allow a team of reporters to vet her claims. She used Avenatti’s vast Twitter reach to drop an explosive sworn declaration on Twitter, the day before Kavanaugh’s Senate testimony, and the world responded exactly as Avenatti hoped it would.

All the Serious Outlets covered it. All too many of the Serious People rushed to defend its claims. The ranking Democratic member of the Senate Judiciary Committee asked Kavanaugh about it at his hearings. When I tweeted my skepticism of the claim, based on its facial implausibility, the response was furious. Blue checkmarks lined up to scold me.

Last week Charlie Schumer used this slander, never plausible and now debunked, to call for Kavanaugh to withdraw his nomination:

Schumer: Kavanaugh should withdraw his nomination

Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) on Wednesday said Brett Kavanaugh should withdraw his Supreme Court nomination after a third woman came forward to accuse him of sexual misconduct.

“I strongly believe Judge Kavanaugh should withdraw from consideration. If he will not, at the very least, the hearing and vote should be postponed while the FBI investigates all of these allegations," Schumer said in a statement.

Democrats don’t really care about the fake rape accusations, or they would have cared about Clinton’s actual rape accusations. They only care that he’s being appointed by Republicans. To Democrats, the only crime is not being one.

BTW, we haven’t heard a peep from Robert Mueller and his 10,000 indictment forms.

ALL of this goes back to Trump taking their power 2 yrs ago, and Trump nominating a CONSERVATIVE to sit on the court they need to keep their power.

The dems have packed all the liberal judges they can, in the courts, and they use those courts to get what voters deny them. They can’t let the liberal leaning SC take on a Conservative. They have to hold on to the power they can keep by lies, destruction, and all conscience gone.

None of the Dems (except for a couple) were never going to vote for him anyways.

Can I use this for my tag line?

Many already have changed their mind, which is why Kavanaugh has not been withdrawn.

The people on this very forum who went along with this same crap accepting accusers who weren’t one iota more credible regarding Herman Cain set this up to happen. Had they and others like them had spines or integrity we would not be where we are now.

But they did not, they accepted this as a normal part of politics they would not oppose and so here we are now.

No they will not rethink it

They won't "rethink" what they're doing because thinking is no longer involved.

The Democrat/Left is recklessly baring their true nature ... unrestrained emotion. They're no longer responding or planning, they've reached a point that reason and rationality cannot touch ... vicious, raw, uncontrolled emotion ....... until somebody stops them.

I’m seeing if something complimentary to the name comes along. I don’t want to think too hard about it, though. That always lands me in trouble.

“Trump tax returns”? They have gone complete hysterical and they’re throwing one thing after another in the hopes that we will not dwell on their earlier lies.

Yep, anytime something falls apart, and it usually does, they just pivot to the next thing. It’s not about reporting, its about opposition. The one thing the National Review people have wrong, Trump’s tactics are the only thing that works against these people. This is not good faith political opposition.
