No problem, people in Rochester make the same mistake and their counties border. Lots of places named Ontario around this area of NY. There is Lake Ontario, County of Ontario, Town of Ontario, Village of Ontario, Village of Ontario Center.

I looked up the origin of the name and it comes from the Huron Indians. Odd because this area was Seneca Indian.

Hurons and Senecas are in the same linguistic group. A Google search including both tribes is informative. One example:

The only thing I remember of ROC is the penny arcade in the charlotte beach area in the early 80s. oh, and the ‘can of worms.’
