Some teenage girls will put the Sass in Sassy.
14 years old, trying to look, act and sound like they’re 19.
I don’t know if this was the case here or not.
They were independent enough to move about the city unsupervised, so they couldn’t have been too delicate.

today’s young people are selectively delicate.

They have mostly been given 0% responsibility yet 100% authority by their parent(s).

They have been given “mini-spouse” status by their parent(s) and have had the bar of expectations lowered into the ground in compensation for being “from a broken home.” (TM)
Also known as “guilt” or “Disney” parenting where the parent befriends the child instead of training them. They are often abused as adult confidants but given no basic lessons in life; they are devoid of all reality.
