When 85% of your catch is comprised of scallops, one might understand a reduction in the scallop population in the area fished? Particularly if they are enclosed in a hard shell.
The BP oil well blowout was the best thing to ever happen in the gulf as it relates to fish stocks. The ban on commercial fishing let the populations explode back to amazing levels.

I live on the Westport River on the Southcoast of Mass. Scallopers had their best season in 30 yrs this past winter. Even theExperts dont know why. But theyll enjoy the bounty.
