More than 650 law professors, including 13 affiliated with Yale Law School and 21 with Harvard Law School, have signed a letter to the Senate arguing that Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh should not be confirmed because of his lack of judicial temperament.
The professors pointed to Kavanaughs appearance before the Senate Judiciary Committee last week amid allegations of sexual misconduct, where the Yale Law School graduate defended himself and called the attacks a grotesque and coordinated character assassination.
The question at issue was of course painful for anyone. But Judge Kavanaugh exhibited a lack of commitment to judicious inquiry, reads the letter, published by the New York Times on Wednesday. Instead of being open to the necessary search for accuracy, Judge Kavanaugh was repeatedly aggressive with questioners.
Even in his prepared remarks, Judge Kavanaugh described the hearing as partisan, referring to it as a calculated and orchestrated political hit, rather than acknowledging the need for the Senate, faced with new information, to try to understand what had transpired, the letter reads. Instead of trying to sort out with reason and care the allegations that were raised, Judge Kavanaugh responded in an intemperate, inflammatory and partial manner, as he interrupted and, at times, was discourteous to senators.
The letter states that judges are required to step aside if there is the possibility that they may be viewed as or display impartiality.
We have differing views about the other qualifications of Judge Kavanaugh, the letter states. But we are united, as professors of law and scholars of judicial institutions, in believing that he did not display the impartiality and judicial temperament requisite to sit on the highest court of our land.

Will be interesting to see which schools should be burned to the ground. So to speak.
Let’s do to them what was done to Kavanaugh and see how they like it.
So now, the argument is shifting away from baseless sex charges, to drinking, to now, he lacks tempermant?
And what is their basis for judgement? His open anger and emotion expressed at the hearing? Because he got justifiably angry at what was being done to him and his family, that means he does not have the proper decorum to be a judge??
A much better test of that would be how he behaves in the courtroom. Has anyone ever seen him have outbursts in court? Anyone??
Will these self-important Liberal a-holes ever finally shut up and accept defeat?
How dare Kavanaugh get pissed off about having his character assassinated and his family harassed and threatened in a craven political witch-hunt?
“Thank you sir, may I have another?” Now that’s a judicial temperament!
Oh my gosh.
None on SCOTUS list or taking cases there.
Only 650 feminists and homo-activists in law schools? A nation of voters will show them otherwise and have them fired for that soon.
I changed my mind. I’m going to vote for Republican senators who have worked to have Brett Kavanaugh confirmed. ...but no vote for one who so much as said a word to delay it.
[But Judge Kavanaugh exhibited a lack of commitment to judicious inquiry,]
How dare he defend himself vigorously including his family from a bald faced character assassination from the scumbag left.
I’d like to see any of these tools take the same treatment.
College Professor Mob Rule : the new standard for Supreme Court appointment
So, Kavanaugh must accept vicious and untrue heinous accusations and obsequiously smile and prostrate himself in supplication.
Drop in the bucket.
Dershewitz refused to sign it and filed a complaint. He now refers to the ACLU as the ANTI American Civil Liberty Union.
It appears that those witches and other weirdos have another goal besides sedition. They wish to become strange fruit.
This letter comes out only today. So *Justice* Kavanaugh didn’t lack judicial temperament two months ago?
Obviously they don’t believe the other accusations against our newest SC Justice. Else they’d be afraid to publish the letter, for fear he’d pelt them mercilessly wilth ice cubes.
I want a fighter who is passionate about his convictions, not an Obama rump ranger, who turns his back in the face of danger.
By signing this THEY lack good judgment and judicial temperament . Tools. Fools.
Leftist professors are not nearly as useful as garbage men and used car salesmen.
