This is sacrilege, to obliterate the inconvenient truth that the Union allowed their prisoners of war to die.
They were captured down South (after the taking of Island #10 near Memphis) in 1862, and brought to Madison as prisoners. They were kept at Camp Randall, the Wisconsin Badgers’ stadium. They died and were buried there, ironically, with honor by their captors. Later, the monument was erected to memorialize their names. They didn’t want to go to Madison in the first place, and it is now very insulting to their dignity to be buried there now among such louts now. Rather than insult them, dig them up and take them home.
Andersonville,Andersonville!
The only Confederate monument here in MA, also to POWs, was uprooted a few years ago by our RINO governor Baker.
The winners of the war covered up a lot more than that. For example, how the war started, and who started it and why.
