We were Brett Kavanaugh’s drinking buddies. We don’t think he should be confirmed.

Charles Ludington, Lynne Brookes and Elizabeth Swisher attended Yale University from 1983 to 1987 with Supreme Court nominee Brett M. Kavanaugh.

We were college classmates and drinking buddies with Supreme Court nominee Brett M. Kavanaugh. In the past week, all three of us decided separately to respond to questions from the media regarding Brett’s honesty, or lack thereof. In each of our cases, it was his public statements during a Fox News TV interview and his sworn testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee that prompted us to speak out.

We each asserted that Brett lied to the Senate by stating, under oath, that he never drank to the point of forgetting what he was doing. We said, unequivocally, that each of us, on numerous occasions, had seen Brett stumbling drunk to the point that it would be impossible for him to state with any degree of certainty that he remembered everything that he did when drunk.

Since coming forward, we each have received numerous angry messages accusing us of attempting to ruin a man’s life because of his drunken antics as a college student. In fact, none of us condemned Brett for his frequent drunkenness. We drank too much in college as well. It is true that Brett acknowledged he sometimes drank “too many beers.” But he also stated that he never drank to the point of blacking out.

All of us went to Yale, whose motto is “Lux et Veritas” (Light and Truth). Brett also belonged to a Yale senior secret society called Truth and Courage. We believe that Brett neither tells the former nor embodies the latter. For this reason, we believe that Brett Kavanaugh should not sit on the nation’s highest court.

Law school requires a high level of dedication to academics and focus. Stumbling drunks tend not to do well or graduate at the top of their class.

I agree. notice all these people who come out of the wood work with these accusations always go to the media and never put the accusation under oath. They also make these accusations with no information as to the place, time, who was also there. The time period they give 1983-1987. They remember Kavanuagh though but nothing else.

The most disingenuous part of this drinking/ honesty BS is that they also insist it is a job interview.

Does ANYONE seriously believe that a job interview is the proper setting for volunteering one may have occasionally been stumbling drunk thirty five years ago in college?

Who are they kidding?

A job interview is where you put your best foot forward - the only time you volunteer a weakness is to show that you are human - and you give self serving answers such as “At times I am too much of a perfectionist”, or “I have a weakness for chocolate”, or “I have a difficulty quitting until the job is completed”, or such.

Nobody in their right mind admits during a job interview to having been stumbling drunk back in college, even though most of us have been. Similarly, nobody volunteers during a job interview that they stole $5 from their mom’s purse when they were eight years old.

These are things you admit to a close friend, a priest or a therapist - or the a person you may have wronged. It’s very personal, very private and very NORMAL to have incidences of regrettable behavior - but they are NOT discussed in job interviews.

Yeah, I’ve been drunk (in the past) and I’ve been sober, I can’t remember every detail drunk or sober.

“Not to worry; for a wife NEVER forgets!!”

Yes, I know, I am in the twenty fourth year of my second marriage, widowed after nineteen years of the first one and I can attest that a wife NEVER forgets, they even remember things that never actually happened.

And what about these “pot calling the kettle” X punks? Their credibility is a disgrace. The damn WAPO would print a street hooker and her pimps lies even if in a place he’d never been in his life. Time for defamation lawsuits.
