Republican Sen. Susan Collins of Maine said Friday she will support Brett Kavanaugh's nomination to the Supreme Court, likely securing his confirmation over the weekend.
Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) voted against moving forward with the nomination and later said she would oppose Kavanaugh in the final vote. She was the first Republican to break with the party and join most Democrats in opposing Kavanaugh.

It aint over till its over.
The Dumyrats launched most brutal and disgraceful smear campaign in the history of the Republic.
Andthanks to the sheeer strategic genius of Trump and the resilience and courage of Kavanaugh we beat them.
Thank the Lord we live in an age of true heroes to fight the Satanic impulses of the Marxists
Scratch Murkowski from every committee and cut off her office $$$ and re-election $$. Let the dems pay for her vote.
Now to keep them all alive for 24 hours. And let them get back to the capital on time. Keep watching. This is not over until they vote.
And did it with an absolutely epic closing argument on the US Senate floor. Brilliant speech
It’s never really over.
Good for her.
This is a clear one, and I’m glad she was able to see it.
Not always a big fan of this woman, but she has gotten this one right, if she holds firm.
Kudos for that.
My friends in Maine are much happier since this announcement, I’m sure.
But what’s with the Alaskans, the rough, tough people on the frontier? How did they get saddled with shallow thinking Senator??
It appears we won this battle, but the war goes on.
It’s schadenfreude overload over on DU. Someone just threatened to off themself.
This was a crucial battle.
I think a lot of peoples’ eyes have been opened by this. This was a lot more than about Kavanaugh.
I thought so as well. If these “protesters” were listening and believing what they heard - when she was talking about Kavanaugh’s record on how he’s ruled over the years - they would see what a fine judge he was, as well...but I’m afraid that they have such TDS - that it won’t make a bit of difference. They are very very lost sheep.
Her speech was terrific!
Yes thank you Senator Collins.
If the judge is appointed, the ninth circuit will have a lot less fun than they might have.
