How exactly did Trump 'dodge' the tax code? (Analyzing the New York Time's Hit Piece)
American Thinker ^ | 10/06/2018 | Jack Hellner

Posted on 10/06/2018 7:03:52 AM PDT by SeekAndFind

A lot of MSM people are hyperventilating that Donald Trump has been exposed by the New York Times as a tax cheat, a criminal.  For example, Catherine Rampell of the Washington Post lit into President Trump over his alleged “tax dodging,” in effect accusing him of a crime.   She said Trump “ducked” the tax code and implied that funding cuts to the IRS made it easy for him. She frets that "as president, Trump has worked diligently to either preserve or multiply other tax breaks his family has benefited from," apparently referencing the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, an Act of Congress.

Why doesn't she explain to her readers what a Grantor Annuity Trust (GRAT) is?  She should let them know them why families are allowed to take minority discounts and non-marketability discounts on closely held stock and investment properties.

It does not appear that she, the New York Times and all the other people writing this garbage accusing Trump of fraud or dubious tax schemes understand the Trumps had to have appraisals for everything she did.

I am over 99% sure that IRS went through 100% of the appraisals and valuations used to transfer the properties. Each gift tax return plus the final estate tax return would have been thoroughly audited before the taxes were finalized.

DeBlasio and the NY attorney general seem to have nothing better to do than to re-investigate Trump for something that has already been thoroughly investigated.

It is truly a shame that so many supposed journalists just repeat Democrat talking points over and over again with little concern for the truth.

I don't recall when so many unverified, anonymous or gossip stories were used in supposedly reputable papers

every day the NYSlimes wages more and more of its Nazi style Big Lie attacks against PDJT
every damned day

anyone knows that tax filings are confidential, step 1.
and it is a federal felony to release them without permission, also it is a federal fine to obtain them without permission in the first place

AND everyone knows that anything you put on your tax return is reviewed by the IRS ... which has immense computers and thousands of CPA’s and tax attorneys

AND everyone knows that returns from 20 or 30 or 40 years ago are long, long past further review, anyway

the Slimes tries to smear PDJT just like the Slimes tries to smear Judge Kavanaugh

if and when the Slimes comes up with anything truthful, valid, and germane to their performance in office, I will immediately consider and... if the Smiles has proof, I will join in the criticism

until the Slimes comes up with something valid, however, they are just continuing their Jos. Goebbels Big Lie Bullsheit, and as far as I am concerned the Slimes can GTH!

I’ve used TurboTax for a decade to cheat the government out of it’s rightful claim to the money I earned.

There are no tax loopholes.

There is tax law written by Congress.

Who are the expert CPAs and Tax Attorneys who are familiar with 1950s and 1960s tax law which the reporters used to provide expert opinion that there was a violation?

Are we supposed to believe a reporter that states an opinion without listing their expertise in tax matters from the 1950s and 1960s?

Lastly we are supposed to believe that for over 50 years neither the IRS nor New York State and City failed to go after Trump?

Newspapers wonder why the only reason people buy a paper is for the bottom of the bird card. Newspapers would have a greater result if they ran a promotion giving away a free bird if you signed up for a subscription.

From what I read on the NY Times article, President Trump’s dad attempted to minimize taxes when transferring money to his children. Sounds logical to me.

However, if the line was crossed in the money transfer, guess who would owe any additional tax? Trump’s dad, not Trump.

Trump’s dad has passed away. Nothing the IRS or NY State can do about that.

IMPEACH HIM NOW.

One point they did not stress while pointing to gifts from senior to DJT: the donor is responsible for all gift taxes, not the person receiving the gift. As far as estates go, they are their own entity and pay whatever the tax is prior to distribution of assets. IOW, Trump may have received a ton of money but the bottom line is he is not responsible for any taxes that were due.

I note the article went on and on citing a ton of things. My former boss had a term BSBB. Whenever I turned in a huge report about something, he would scribble those letters on it and send it back. The letters stood for BS baffles brains. IOW, make it short and simple so anyone can follow it. The corollary is, make it long and involved and no one reads it, just the slanted opinions of the sleazy author.

I'd bet everything I own that Trump's tax returns...Federal and State...have been scrutinized by the Federal/State Director of Audits every year for the last 40 years.

The fact that he's never even been *charged* by the Feds *or* the State of New York proves to me that he's never violated tax laws.

Listeners to Rush will recall that he's revealed that the State of New York scrutinizes/harasses him every year despite not having lived in the state for about 20 years. He's even said that that's why he changed Open Line Friday's "Live,From New York" to "Live,From Sunny South Florida" because New York was harassing him about *that*.

Strictly speaking, no one can be a tax cheat. As the income tax is totally voluntary, yet the government illegally throws people in jail and kills them; e.g., Irwin Schiff, no one can be accused of swearing an oath falsely per the fifth amendment. This is just another New York Slimes hit job. The paper has gone full Walter Duranty in its lies.

I believe the time for criminal prosecution for tax returns (illegally prosecuted, btw) is three years.

normal statute of limitation on most criminal tax charges, 3 years, yes.

6 years if IRS can prove you concealed more than 25% of your income.

if the IRS can prove a civil tax case, it can go back further.. but almost never does...
since proving such old cases is almost impossible, anyway.
