First off Musk is not untouchable but that doesn’t mean he’s not brilliant if not a very smart businessman; PayPal, Tesla, and SpaceX are examples of that.

I consider him to be a conman, he takes advantage of every type subsidy whether from government or investor and though I don’t agree with that as long as it’s legal I say more power to him.

He went over the line with this stunt though, IMHO.

I still don't see how any of that makes him a genius or brilliant, like we hear often about him.

Paypal? Not an original idea. Tesla? Nope, not original either. SpaceX? Just an attempt to do what's been done before, but not "directly" involving NASA. Hyperloop? The idea has been around for over 50 years.

What Musk can be described as, is a dreamer, and what he's been able to do is to use his Paypal reputation to attain funding for some of the other projects. But, genius? Brilliant? Not so much.

On the business side, he's only achievements are questionable, since he has depended so much on government assistance to get those projects started, and so far, not much to show for them, except debt.

Let's not forget Zip2 and the Boring Company.

And at one time that described Donald Trump.
