Not uncommon for the Post to write positive Trump articles. It’s the abhorrent NY Daily News that deserves a smack down.

Thanks for posting this article. It was very well-written.

From the article:

“The Art of War has met The Art of the Deal. And The Art of the Deal has won.”

Ha ha! I’ve never heard it put better!

They said it:

“his (Trump’s) goal is not just to rectify the trade deficit, but to eliminate the threat that a rising China poses to the US.”

Basically, the rest of the world is on board with the program, because a rising China is a threat to almost everyone else. They have accumulated enemies.

I don’t think that President Trump wants a trade deal with China.

It is a fool’s errand - the communists are bad actors. They are not our friends - they are enemies.

The plan is to stop feeding that beast. Take our business elsewhere, and not be dependent on them for anything.

Oh I completely agree that has changed.

But we have all been completely sold out.

Everyone. Both parties.

Until Trump anyway.

I agree he is different. But we are completely sold out to China.

Very, very badly.

Perot was the guy who got it. Since then everyone has been selling out.

Everyone. Both parties...

It is The LORD who raises up leaders, and brings them down. Let us now bow in humble adoration for what He has done for our undeserving selves.

They started lowering a number of their tariffs on us weeks ago - even as they were talking about fighting us over it all.

Its not about the tarrriffs.

Its about the IP theft, the forced IP transfers and now state to state compromise of the industrial supply chain for the military.

Autarky | Definition of Autarky by Merriam-Webster
https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/autarky
Autarky definition is - self-sufficiency, independence; specifically : national economic self-sufficiency and independence.

Thanks to fracking, we have reached the stage of near-Autarky; sure we import lots of stuff, but in contrast to China, do we absolutely have to? I would point only to rare earths. China seems to have an export monopoly, yet we have an island loaded with the stuff in southern Alaska that only the fanatical environmentalists keep us from mining.

But how can they win? America by far has the largest economy on the planet. The United States of America purchases 31% of the entire world output of goods and service. This is something that you can look up, just Google it.

Everything that we buy from China can be bought from another country albeit possibly for a few cents more but so what? If the plan is to bring China to the table by imposing restrictions on the ability to sell their products then that’s what we do. There’s no question that they have stolen technology.

What does China do with the items produced and sold to us if we stop buying them? Answer simple it will be forced to sell them at a steeply discounted price just to get them out of China. The alternative would be to shut down production in part which will turn the Chinese economy upside down. They’re already having trouble with their economy and you know this if you’re following it on the news.

We hold all the cards in this game. China may be in the fight to win but they won’t because they need us a lot more than we need them.

Evonomics 101.

I don’t disagree with your logic.

I think you are spot on correct.

Here is the problem.

China has two kinds of government economies. One that is capitalistic and innovative. One that is communist bureaucratic thief. The former China gets from the West. The latter the China gets from Russia.

Russia has been borrowing and stealing technology from the West since Peter the great—but it has not made them an innovative country. They will continue to borrow and steal even though the model they work off of doesn’t give them the best results. Why? Because it gets them some results. They have whole bureaucracies devoted to the present regime.

The Chinese government has this spy regime in spades. they doubled or tripled that bureaucracy back in 2011. That bureaucracy gets results.

They are not going to give that up. No matter how bad the pain is.

They won’t give it up until or unless the USA in concert with other nations figures out how to shut the whole spy pipeline down.

That could happen if Chinese nationals are expelled worldwide.

But I doubt if things will go that far.

In the mean time —in order to maintain their spy network the Chinese will give up their entire supply chain network with the USA and the west. Why? Because the spy network is part of who they are. Or anyhow who the communist party is.

It IS about the tariffs. Listen to Donald talk about the tariffs instead of projecting your globalism on to him.
