People who for years were fence-sitters and nonparticipants came out in droves for Trump, finally a person who appealed to them.
The connection is a little more tenuous now, as Trump’s name is not on the ballot anywhere, but Trump has unashamedly been asking for the return of those who voted for him in 2016 to step up and support the candidates who supported Trump in this latest ordeal.
After all, what have you got to lose?
It’s weird but 2016 actually had similar turnout compared to the last two pres. elections, if I recall. 2008 was the most for a while. Some states maybe were higher? Supposedly because different people came out to vote while many stayed home. Hopefully this confirmation hearing and the media coverage opened a lot of eyes.
