Bitter partisan battle wounded Kavanaugh and the Supreme Court he’s joined (beat that dead horse!)

It is easy to answer the question of how Brett M. Kavanaugh will be received by his fellow justices at the Supreme Court after a historically bitter and tumultuous confirmation battle: as one of nine equals, with whom they will work for the rest of their careers.

The tougher question is how months of partisan warfare will affect the court’s image. Can the justices convince the public that their solidified 5 to 4 split — with conservative Republican-nominated justices on one side and liberal Democratic-appointed justices on the other — is any different from the 50 to 48 vote across the street in Congress that elevated Kavanaugh?

“At an earlier point in the hearings, [Kavanaugh] insisted that ‘the Supreme Court must never, never be viewed as a partisan institution,’ ” said Deborah Rhode, director of the Center on the Legal Profession at Stanford Law School. “That train has left the station.”

As Kavanaugh prepared for his debut on the bench Tuesday, the other justices already had moved quickly to paper over the damage.

Liberal justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Elena Kagan joined conservatives Clarence Thomas and Samuel A. Alito Jr. at Kavanaugh’s hastily called private swearing-in ceremony Saturday night to witness Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. administer the oath.

Well, from the looks of things pretty soon it will be a 6 to 3 split . . .

The only partisans were the Democrat hacks who staged this high tech lynching.

And it is only they who have lost anything.

So, leftists are setting up a scenario where liberal states and cities disobey Supreme Court rulings?

Should we have executed Kavenaugh scrubbed his record and placed an automatic liberal vote for all future rulings? Would that be enough?
Elections have consequences.........

An exchange I had with a friend who does not share my political leanings:

HIM——————————————————————————————————
Robert Post, the former Dean of Yale Law School, gave a very measured, carefully reasoned and apolitical argument. I’m sorry if you did not read it as carefully as it was written:
“I was in the end prompted to write this essay because, on Thursday, Kavanaugh published a remarkable op-ed in the Wall Street Journal in which he apologized for his rash words and attempted to reclaim for himself the “independence and impartiality” so necessary for judges. But judicial temperament is not like a mask that can be put on or taken off at will. Judicial temperament is more than skin-deep. It is part of the DNA of a person, as is well illustrated by Merrick Garland, who never once descended to the partisan rancor of Kavanaugh, despite the Senate’s refusal even to dignify his nomination with a hearing.”

ME-——————————————————————————————————
If someone falsely accused you of sexual assault, drugging women, and — yes — even managing rape gangs, while you have carefully structured your entire life for a particular achievement, even as a teenager.... and you see these false accusations bandied about in a biased and unfair press as hard facts.... would you not lose your ‘judicial temperament’ and lash out at those who sought to sully your good name and destroy your lifetime of achievement?

Hell, I give the guy credit for merely using harsh words, and not smuggling a pistol into the hearings.

He was righteously angry. And, as you know from your own life, and I mine, anger passes, and reason returns.

If you and I — lesser men of smaller achievements — can do this, why do you doubt that another man of greater achievement than both of us combined, can do the same?

_____________________________________________________

This will likely form the basis and thesis of another of my essays, soon.

We can look at Clarence Thomas for guidance on what will happen. Liberals will rant and rave about how partisan and extremist Kavanaugh is and how awful it is that he is on the court, but his decisions will count just the same as the decisions of the other eight justices.

The Demoncrats are just doing what the Michelle Obama said needed to be done during the 2012 campaign: Barak has a lot of work to do to change our history and tradition. I think their plan is to destroy our Republic and rebuild it into a really great part of a global government, with them in charge of course.

Unless and until the Republicans expose the Ford and Russia plots, the left won’t stop trying to de-legitimatize SCOTUS and Trump

Kavanaugh is an adult in his fifties. He’s fine. In fact, he sees this as so much of a victory that if he got a purple heart, it was worth it.

Lefties are in complete boo-hoo mode. Tears are flowing like rain. No more legislating from the bench for the foreseeable future. They’ve just lost almost all their ability to effect change.
