I have watched many Peterson videos and find him to be wise and eloquent.

His background is as a clinical psychologist and a lecturer in psychology. His focus is on the individual not on specific institutions.

Peterson's response to the Canadian law mandating the use of various pronouns was to refuse outright, even if that meant that his university would fire him or that he would go to jail.

I think he was looking at this situation with his focus on Kavanaugh's welfare and not that of his supporters.

One claim that the liberals have made is that Ford had nothing to gain by coming forward. That, of course, assumes that she doesn't benefit from frustrating the efforts of Trump and his followers to control the Supreme Court. It also ignores the adulation and other rewards that Ford gains from the liberal establishment.

If Kavanaugh were to step down it would cost me some heartburn while I pondered whether Trump and the Senate could replace him in a timely fashion without other costs. It would only cost Kavanaugh a job, albeit a job that he and similar judges view as the absolute pinnacle of a legal career.

If Kavanaugh steps down, he makes a statement that there is nothing more valuable than his good name. He demonstrates that he does not value his personal promotion above the good that comes from truth and justice. He points the finger at those who conspired and lied in their somewhat successful attempt to smear him.

I realized early on that Trump was facing what amounted to a win-win situation with this divisive process. If, has happened, Kavanaugh is confirmed, Trump wins.

If Kavanaugh had been successfully blocked then the election in November would likely result in a gain of 3 to 5 seats in the Senate, ensuring that Kavanaugh or someone else would be seated in January and that a replacement for Ginsburg would be that much easier to seat (if my dreams are realized).

Clarification: I was referring to Kavanaugh's supporters.

Another one who has written good opinions in re. the Second Amendment would do very nicely for encouraging conservative voters.
