That Historical FACT applies to BOTH Political Parties and preempts the so called Biden Rule.

Wallace was being DELIBERATELY OBTUSE...he understood the point exactly but he wanted to “cloud” it for the audience.

Here’s hoping for MANY Republican Senate pickups next month. Then we can really give Cris Wallace something to talk about.

Some reporterette asked if Ruth Buzzy resigned whether he would favor a conservative to replace her. He almost fell over laughing and said rather emphatically “OF COURSE”.

I got Kennedy 1988 (Reagan with Dem Senate), and Brennan 1956 (This was a recess appointment - Eisenhower with Dem Senate, Brennan not confirmed until 1957).

I count about 10 others where the President and Senate were controlled by the same party since 1796.

Fortas not being elevated to CJ in 1968 - Johnson with Dem Senate - the nomination might not have been scuttled without the southern Democrats.
