So is there any common denominator among the perps? Something they have in common? Maybe the police could start with that?
Yes. And we don't have to sacrifice the Bill of Rights to make use of it.
The common denominator is that the perps have benefitted from a catch-and-release judicial system which makes it profitable to continue engaging in criminal activities despite multiple convictions.
I'm not in favor of increasing sentences as a deterrent. I want the sentences increased because that results in criminals spending more time behind bars and less time committing crimes.
Career criminals belong in prison.
#5. It has been along time since my classes in Law Enforcement but some of the legal weapons in the hands of the police until the ACLU forced most departments to cowardly cave in, included:
1. Furtive glances - as in afraid of seeing the police, acting as a “lookout” at a potential or real crime scene
2. Noticeable bulge in coat or pants pocket, usually on the right side (most criminals are right handed and that is where they keep their gun).
3. A group of convicted juveniles and/or felons gathered in a huddle or late at night when everyone else is at home.
4. Strangers showing up in a neighborhood (when the cops knew who lived there and who didn’t), esp. late at night.
5. Cars cruising an area, esp. late at night (drive-by shootings, smash and grab robberies, store robberies, drug deals)
6. General nervousness when there is no visible cause for it.
7. Cars driving around without their headlights on.
8. Obscured license plates, broken lights, etc.
There were more but I’ve forgotten them.
