Voter registration surges after Taylor Swift's Instagram post(on Marsha Blackburn)

Vote.org says it has seen an unprecedented flood of new voter registrations since Taylor Swift on Sunday broke her career-long silence on politics to encourage her 112 million followers to register to vote.

“We are up to 65,000 registrations in a single 24-hour period since T. Swift's post,” Kamari Guthrie, director of communications for Vote.org, told Buzzfeed News in a report published on Monday night.

“Vote.org saw [Tennessee] registrations spike specifically since Taylor's post," Guthrie continued.

According to Guthrie, the nonpartisan website has seen 5,183 voter registrations in Tennessee so far this month, and at least 2,144 of those voter registrations are from the past two days alone. That compares to 2,811 voter registrations from the state in September.

In her Instagram post on Sunday, Swift, who has long stayed quiet on her political views, endorsed former Tennessee Gov. Phil Bredesen (D) over Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R) in the state’s Senate race.

“As much as I have in the past and would like to continue voting for women in office, I cannot support Marsha Blackburn,” Swift wrote. “I will be voting for Phil Bredesen for Senate and Jim Cooper for House of Representatives.”

She also discussed her support for LGBTQ rights and condemned racism

I’m inclined to think that most of those registrations are due to the effects of the Kavanaugh confirmation>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I agree.

I very rarely listen to the music of Taylor Quiff, only by happenstance when she is on the radio.

The left over-estimates the magnetic power of Hollywood. If Quiff is going to side with the Gynocracy and the abandonment of constitutional due process, she will loose millions of listeners.

I guess she thinks she can afford it.But she should stick to music. Politics to her are all emotion. I bet she has not read much about the history of the Constitution, or even begins to know how it protects liberty.

Taylor Quiff used to be exceptional, and now she is just another whining , frothing at the mouth , liberal fascist Gynocrat. I predict her early retirement from music.

Only 2100 were in TN, though. Who cares if the registrations were in New York City or Chicago or LA? Those places are lost to Republicans. I would bet that you’ll have just as many people registering to vote Republican because of her “endorsement”.

fake news from vote.org (lie with statistics and headlines) to influence the election.

these “non-partisan” Rat fronts need to be exposed and reclassified.

“most of those registrations are due to the effects of the Kavanaugh confirmation”.

And/or it was the last day to register before the deadline. Just ask everyone out shopping on Christmas Eve why they are shopping and buying that day.

I am pretty sure that today is the last day to register to vote for 11/6 in about 17 states which TN is one of.

The voter registration surge would have been four times as high, except the folks applying had not yet even learned to drive let alone vote.

I’m inclined to think its a load of Bollox like fake polls in 2016 it’s meant to try and drive people to vote anyone who would have more than a passing interest in taylor swift would have to be daft to follow her to a vote register they might but to actually follow through because a hollywood idjit clamours for it not likely id think most would register but just not vote

It costs to much time time they could be using to waste money buying hollywood peculiars

My young leftists neighbors think that revolting and organizing today is just like the American Revolution and justify it as such.

The fact that it may have spread means nothing. Lots of fake news spreads far & wide.

I would be willing to attend a Taylor Swift concert...provided that someone can raise the money to pay for my ticket and travel expense, furnish me a blindfold and ear protection and raise one million dollars to be donated to the Salvation Army in my name. It would still be painful but I am willing to make the sacrifice. For a two million dollar donation I would be willing to give up the blindfold but not the ear protection.

The web is so skewed. I’m here in Florida and I did a Google search for my precinct location. Everything came up but what I searched for. I got links to voter registration for Hispanics. They had a blue icon person and a red icon person. The blue one was checked by default.

I think Taylor might have the potential to learn to make music if she had about ten years study at Juilliard.

Kaleidoscope math. Goofy meaningless article designed to trick high school girls.

Or the left needs a screen to cover the massive voter fraud they’re about to engage in (?)

Taylor Swift will have a negligible effect on the midterm elections. There's nothing brave or inspiring about another celebrity coming out for Democrats, particularly when they parrot the same worn-out cliches about standing up for LGBT rights and against racism. Yawn...

That's what makes this so disappointing. Swift churned out a tepid endorsement on Instagram, pissed off millions of her fans (who like me understood that she was probably a liberal but appreciated that she was staying above the fray), she turned off her comments section, and quietly slunk away.

When you can't even watch a football game without being subjected to politics (and only one side of it, naturally) Taylor Swift was one of the last "politics-free" institutions in America that both sides could enjoy and escape from all the rancor and discourse.

Not any more. Sad.
