A sudden influx of Guatemalan families into Arizona has overwhelmed detention facilities there and forced the government to release hundreds of parents and children over the past several days, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said Tuesday...Large groups of 100 or more have been turning themselves in to agents and requesting humanitarian refuge.

“We are seeing record numbers of family units coming across,” said one Department of Homeland Security official, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss the trend. The department has not published border arrest totals for September, but the number of parents who arrived with children is expected to significantly exceed the 12,774 family members apprehended in August on the southern border....

U.S. agents have observed buses dropping off migrant families south of the border...The senior official estimated that Guatemalan families and children have accounted for 90 percent of those crossing...“It’s a very well-orchestrated smuggling venture,” the senior official said...

Trump's policy was “Catch and Release” from January 2017 to May 2018.

After a couple months of political showmanship, Trump has essentially returned to Catch and Release.

Trump can stop this any time he wants - but, he won't.

8 U.S.C. §1182(f):

“Whenever the President finds that the entry of any aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, he may by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or nonimmigrants, or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate.”

The Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965 forbids discrimination by race, nationality, etc., which is why Trump's attempt to stop Muslim immigrants failed before every Leftist judge.

However, Trump still has the executive authority to stop ALL illegal immigrants at the border.

But, he will never do that.

Who is trafficking these people in? They don’t get from Guatemala to the US border on their own without outside organization, not in these numbers.

Re: “Kirstjen Nielsen is an open borders advocate from way back. This is the fox guarding the henhouse. Probably one of President Trump's most boneheaded picks.”

We are wayyyy past boneheaded.

Kirstjen Nielsen was General John Kelly's Chief of Staff at the Department of Homeland Security.

Both Kelly and Nielsen publicly supported DACA Amnesty.

Then, Trump promoted General Kelly to be White House Chief of Staff.

Did I forget to mention that General John Kelly got his last two stars from Barack Obama!

” My biggest fear is that one of these illegals are going to commit a truly heinous act, such as another mass shooting, or killing a LEO...”

They’ve already done that, for years. Better pick another “fear”.

whatchu talking’ about Maynard?

The proposed gates would seal some of those gaps...The government also separately plans to begin building new barriers to fulfill President Donald Trump’s signature campaign pledge to build a border wall. Congress earlier this year approved $1.6 billion...

The hard part of sending Guatemalans “back across the border” is that is sending them to Mexico. Mehico doesn't want them; they are not Mexicans. Mexico has very, very strict immigration laws, much more vigorously enforced than ours. They (Mexican authorities) won't let them in. It is not as simple as “marching them back across the border.”

The timing of this is not random. The left is using this to cause a division leading up to the elections.

Soldiers should have been put on the border on Day One of the Trump Administration.
I agree and I've been saying the same thing since Day One. Mr President, CAN YOU HEAR US!?

the problem, my FRiend, is giving the power over national security to a singular judge popping up out of his gopher hole at any random moment.

The correct response to such judges who imagine themselves King, is to say quite simply, ‘bugger off, you have no standing’. The Executive Judge can then choose to pursue a contempt case to the third branch of government —— to which he does not belong —— the Judiciary. Which, in turn, can be again be overridden by the combined power of the Legislative plus Executive.
