Bruce Lee was once asked why so many King Fu movies are set in ancient China. His answer was something like, “Well, if we set the movie in modern times I challenge the guy to a fight assuming a stance and yelling Hi-yah and he pulls a gun that goes bang”-bang and the movie ends

LOL

Yeah it didn’t work out so good for that swordsman in the first Indiana Jones movie :)

I once saw a WELL KNOWN (on Staten Island for what it’s worth) member of a Karate teaching family get into a fight with some kid in high school.

The karate kid (no pun intended) must have kicked the other guy 40 times when they both fell to the floor

The other guy was trying to get on top of him and I’ve NEVER seen such fast and furious kicks in my life.

Maybe kicking from a position of weakness has much less effect but they LOOKED like hard kicks.

The other guy just kept coming and he finally got the karate kid in a headlock and that was that.

Maybe the guy had a hard head because those kicks look like they would have done terrific damage to a normal person.

There is actually a kung fu movie, The Savage Five, in which a gang of robvers take over an entire town. One of them is armed with semi automatic pistols. Its one of my favorites.
