It's hard to believe that there was a time when you could still get service like this.
Not everything that has changed in America has been for the better, that's for darn sure!
Not to hijack a thread ( I would NEVER do that), but Publix grocery stores still will carry your groceries out to your car - and no tipping allowed.
“I would then sling their groceries in the car, sometimes get a small tip, and then wait for the next car.
It’s hard to believe that there was a time when you could still get service like this.”
In high school I had a job at an upper-end mom and pop grocery where there was a only a sidewalk between the front door and a two row parking lot.
Loved the little old ladies who’d tip me a buck to carry their groceries a total of 30’.
Walmart, Amazon, and others are starting to do this. You order it online and then pick it up at the store. Walmart has put in a separate pick up point in Bentonville. You get an alert on your phone when your order is ready and you drive through to pick up your groceries.
In Silicon Valley you can order groceries on line and a robot will deliver your order to your door.
“It’s hard to believe that there was a time when you could still get service like this.”

Sigh! How right you are. There was once a time Service Stations actually had an employee to pump your gas, check your oil, tires, antifreeze, AND wash your windows when you graced their establishment with your presence.
Today, you pay up front, pump your own gas, check all things yourself. You then pay for air to fill your tires and must ask for a key to the rest room - enter at your own risk.
