Are we not very close to allowing the same thing here in the USA? The present status of pot laws is twisted and confusing.
You can still get in big trouble if you sell, but possession is okay in some circumstances and in some states.

Here in Mass. you can buy it but you can’t sell it. Makes no sense.

The voters (whether right or wrong) voted to legalize the stuff for recreational use. The politicians know better, of course, and they just keep putting up roadblocks. So it’s sort of legal and sort of not. My government at work.

In California, every adult citizen can grow 6 plants to maturity in their backyard...unless prohibited by local ordinance. That would be a code violation, not unlike raising a couple of chickens where not allowed.

But every resident in every jurisdiction can grow 6 plants indoors.

And keep the proceeds from those 6 plants. That could be 1-25 pounds of trimmed buds, depending.

Additionally, ever resident is able to have up to 1 ounce in their possession outside their home. And every resident is entitled to gift up to one ounce at a time.

This winter, after the harvest, drying, trimming etc. California will be literally swimming in pot. FAR, far more than the state stoners can consume. And the wholesale price for legally grown will be zip dot nada.

And the legal commercial sector will be completely wiped out. Enormous losses.

Nevada has an almost identical law.
