The music industry is hopeless. But there is still plenty of good music around.

Try out the best of the new young sopranos: Patricia Janeckova and Amira Willighagen.

Have a look at Adele. Great voice and some great songs.

And Andre Rieu.

Or go back in time: The Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Queen ... you know the list.

Adele??? Well, “Skyfall” IS a great tune. B4 that I listened to her “21” album - gave it to my wife actually: Voice has a buzzy, distorted quality, the sound in general is badly squashed and compressed (better on the vinyl release, however), and all the lyrics are about “love” relationships, and about as deep and mature as an annoyed kitten. Don’t get me wrong, I like plenty of relationship songs, but “21’s” wore on me very poorly. I’m not sure there is a single one that would encourage me to get in a relationship, were I looking. (I’m married and intend to stay that way.)

If Adele has done other material like Skyfall, or much of anything else that shows real wisdom or inspiration or love beyond hormones, suggest away! Meanwhile, I’ll suggest a few tunes w/ great lyrics and emotions that few FReepers likely know:

Dream On, by Russ Ballard

Confession, by Ken Hensley / Uriah Heep

Illusion, by Ken Hensley / Uriah Heep

Firefly, by Ken Hensley / Uriah Heep (ok, I’m a Hensley fan!)

Hold On, Hold Out, by Jackson Browne (better known, flat out BEAUTIFUL!)

ANY of those songs, if I listen to them intently, can still move me to tears.
