A new joke to replace the old French ones:

“EU Army weapons for sale; never fired and dropped only once.”

I’m sure the UNIONIZED Dutch Army is scaring the shit out of any potential adversaries.

Demobilize all our assets and bring them home

NO! Bring them home and assign them the mission of guarding OUR border for a change.

Once a real wall is in place, then demobilize, but only if there's no other viable mission for them.

I thought it was clear to demobilize from Europe.

jalisco555: "I read not long ago that the Luftwaffe... had around a dozen operational ground attack aircraft.
The Bundeswehr... had fewer than 100 working tanks.
And the Deutsche Marine... had no working U-boats."

Well said and a sad state of affairs.
In all fairness, our own military was also in pretty sad shape before 2017, and is still recovering.
Plus equipment can be quickly repaired & overhauled, it only takes money.

So the real question is whether their military spirit, training & motivation is so attenuated they'd be rendered useless against a serious threat?

The Polish defense minister, Antoni Macierewicz, looks like he means business:

Thats good. No democracy at the top level. But that is where the Army is controlled. You see how this works. It almost happened in America. The vote in Europe is just for show. You can vote for low level Ministers. But the top people are all appointed. Europeans get no say in it. Elsworth Toohey would have loved this. Its like they have XI envy. They are adopting a Chinese style politburo.

Notice the difference between Europe and America. Europe has no freedom of speech. You cannot vote out the ruling party. You cannot vote out the President. If the elite go against any country or sub-group of people there is no recurse. The elite in Europe have all but dissolved their democratic shackles.

In the US they are trying to do the same thing with super country groups like the UN or the WTO. And they also like to create GSEs like Freddy and Fannie. Or they give governmental power or funding to groups like the ABA or Planned Parenthood. All this should be illegal and we should always fight it. The idea is to separate power or funding from the voters.

Most of the Defense Ministers are women FYI. The Russians would slaughter such a force without America.

That picture of the Polish defense minister, very telling. So I guess there are still some alpha males left in Europe.

It sounds inept. But I think its fine. We can just pull out of Europe and but our armies where we need them. Its not like they have helped us too much. I like it. We can move our troops to England.

I have always believed there is much more to the EU than meets the eye. Germany is definitely the dominate country in the EU. And Germany historically has been an aggressive, power seeking nation – always. They’re militaristic in their bone marrow. I can visualize, in time, Germany taking over the EU and making Europe the greater Germany. That was a goal of Hitler’s in WWII. Of course, Britain, Poland and Hungary would cause some problems but Germany would prevail.

Call me a nut case?? You are probably right, but think about it, do some research.

DesertRhino: "There isn’t the slightest chance Russia intends to invade the EU.
The EU Army is a joke."

Putin now has a history of picking off low-hanging fruit, witness northern Georgia, Crimea & Eastern Ukraine.
So the real question here is which EU countries today fall into that category: low hanging fruit?

They were all issued white flags and recordings of ‘We Surrender” in all languages to prevent attacks by any other country on earth.

Not only are you not a nut case, but consider that during the reign of Napoleon, there WAS NO GERMANY. There were Prussian kingdoms who formed coalitions (there were at least six or seven that tried to bring down Napoleon) to fight off whoever.

Germany itself is historically recent as a country. Significant if you consider they spent from 1900 to 1945 trying to go from being a country, to ruling the world.

Yes - decamp to Poland right now. The idea of Western Europe actually paying for their own defense is laughable. But I really hope we call their bluff.

Such arrogance.

He should immediately call their bluff and if they want us out, so be it. I would leave US forces in Poland and the former eastern block countries to some extent, IF asked, otherwise screw NATO. That is a crap load of money that can be saved for Pacific forces.

Germany is the eternal enemy...since 1870. But his statements mean nothing unless they plan to partner with Russia.
