In a number of ways, the 19th-century was a wonderful time. The British Empire was at its height, and America had a hugely booming economy (especially after the Civil War).
But we've been taught that the "Victorian Age" was all stuck-up and sexless and a really dark age in so many ways. Any good Progressive teacher will tell you all about it.
Likewise, the 1950s was a wonderful time. Great economic expansion, middle class values in ascendance, technical advances leading to a promising future. It was a great time. But we've been taught that it was all stuck-up and sexless and a really dark age in so many ways. Any good Progressive teacher will tell you all about it.
Almost makes you think the Progressives are trying to hide the truth about what makes a society successful (personal self control).
Most of them know nothing about it, really. If I had a test for Expert on Victorian Age, my first question would be, "Have you ever read the book Middlemarch?" And if they said Yes, they'd have to prove it. I'd question them for 5 minutes on it.
Not “almost.”
