My brother just last night told me about a man fired from his work. Why? He was at a managers retreat playing ping pong with a lady from HR, they were all drinking wine, well she hit the ball really hard and it bounced up and smacked him in his forehead. He said, “ouch, you bitch” in a joking way.
When HR older lady went back to the office Monday after the retreat, she found some HR policy where that remark constituted sexual harassment got him fired.
Fired for one word said in jest? Not even a letter of reprimand to at least give the fellow a warning — just straight termination? Sounds like a company where everyone has to walk on eggshells.
He should have filed a counter-claim out assault and battery.
