Tip - meds can usually be re-ordered every 3 weeks instead of waiting the full 30 days. Re-order your meds as soon as your insurance allows. Doing this will get you ahead so you’ll have a few months on hand in case there’s a shtf.

Over the counter vitamins and suppliments aren’t regulated by insurance so get a supply on hand. Also, rubbing alcohol, peroxide, hand sanitizer and clorox. Gloves and face masks.

There are plenty of out of sight storage spaces in our homes. Under and behind furniture. Clean out cabinets and closets to make room for what’s really needed.

Those square milk crates will hold 36 regular sized canned foods. Cover them with decorative fabric. They’re stackable.

Don’t get rid of anything that could be used during shtf. Keep the kids’ bow and arrow set. Keep the kids’ old backpacks because those are small and can be carried by the young and old. Get a supply of rags from old towels and linens. Just think before tossing.

Other probably know but I just learned this - dishwashers and some washers/dryers are water tight so are good places to store items if need be during a flood.

Best to put such items in plastic containers up as high as possible but use what options you have.

There are very few who truly care about having far too much government. Rand is one of those who expose the realities when this happens.

“Pets are our family too”

Heck yeah! I love my fur kids. They are the ones I worry most about with prepping, because kibble is high in fat and therefore hard to store long-term. The cats definitely won’t like eating beans and rice, which we have stored for the humans. The dog might be okay with it though.

FEMA administrator enourages individual responsibility for disaster preparedness.

What a novel concept.

You got me beat.

I only got 40 quarts of sauce and 20 pints of stewed tomatoes.

Best crop ever.

And some people in our area had nothing.

Weird.

Live through a big Earthquake, like Northridge — you will stay prepared the rest of your life.

And salt.

Salt is essential for survival and I think many people over look it in prepping.

It’ll store excellently in canning jars as they are hermetically sealed and there’s no moisture in or out to make it cake and of course, it doesn’t spoil.

The plan this week is to organize the pantry.

I'm planning on making sure I'm prepped for winter ahead of time this year.

I always do it as I don't want to be hauling stuff in through snow, ice, or slop.

Not to mention that we live about half an hour from the nearest city and I don't want to have to go out in the teeth of a blizzard.

But this year, I'm going to do it BEFORE the elections.

I am not happy with what I've been seeing happen with the anarchy the dems are trying to foment, and I remember well enough what happened after the 2016 elections.

If the dems take the beating it looks like is going to happen, I am not so sure that all hell isn't going to break loose.

And while I probably won't be affected directly by any unrest, (living in a very small town not near a city) if something happens to the power grid, or transportation grid, or whatever, to disrupt the supply of food, etc, the stores will run out quickly.

I do not want to be caught flat footed.

I knew a missionary who fed his dogs cornmeal mush mixed with meat scraps.

Said the dogs were always healthy.

Yeah dogs do okay with more grain in their Foods than cats. And my dog isn’t picky. So I think he will be fine sharing what we have, along with additional dog vitamins.

That’s another thing, the supplements that dogs and cats need don’t last very long either. Shelf life wise I mean. I guess I better get to doing some research and seeing what natural foods can contain what my animals need. I might be catching a lot of mice I guess :-)

Yep, that's my thought about getting the pantry back in order.

The prickly pear cactus fruit is ready to harvest for jelly but I have enough to last a while. It is a free product for anyone wanting to put up some jelly.

Am printing out a recipe for Algerita Berry Jam. There are some bushes nearby so might need it one day. I do a lot of printing How To stuff just in case.

I’ve got roughly 1/2 that on food. Not nearly as good with drink as you. And it’s actually more important, as you know.
