Sounds like they are going to boot lots of high paid middle management and replace them with fewer, younger, lower paid versions. Probably make them train their replacements.

Having worked at Ford through the 1990s, these layoffs would be a welcome change.

I was in Marketing management and was frustrated every day with overarching bureaucracy. Between the CEO and lowest person, there might be 30 layers of management in some areas.

There were whole departments of people who were there to provide oversight to logo usage and marketing claims. They one time confided in me that they would only give a written “No, you can’t do that!” But NEVER a “Yes, that’s fine!” That was only verbal.

The reason being was that if someone later found a problem, it would come back to them. So, you had a $20 million a year department that only dragged its feet and refused to add timely value to others.

I could only do it for six years or so. Then went to a supplier - and made my career.
