The power could be turned off as early as Sunday and into Monday morning. The move is an attempt to reduce wildfire danger and may impact several northern California cities.

Kevin Dasso, vice president of electric asset management, said that safety was the agency’s top priority.

“PG&E has a plan. We want our customers to have plans, too.”

Isn’t electricity a carcinogenic? Shouldn’t California ban it in the state?

Well, the A-listers should always be able to air-condition their socially progressive soirees, but yeah. You and me should dine on insect cereal by the light of a single candle.

“Did I mention dry as a bone?”

My in-laws live near Tahoe. They blame the power company. I told them to enjoy the darkness.

I love them but......

California bans every proven natural cancer healing agent as “Carcinogenic.”

That is what masquerades as logic around here.

Higher electric bills whether PG&E “improves” the overhead lines, or if they get sued when a fire happens and they have to take the blame for it. You are going to pay either way.

The others who are going to benefit are the makers and sellers of “emergency” generators.

How much longer will Caifornians keep electing a legislature and governor who focus all their energy, policies and all their budget on “social justice” instead of effectively managing the basic stuff the state should be doing??

See, if everyone had their own solar panels and windmill they wouldn’t need PG&E. Problem solved.

It’s not a matter of upgrading lines - it’s a matter of being the scapegoat for all things related to fires in California. A dead line can’t start a fire. If California doesn’t want energized power lines running through dry areas, then they ought to cherish building power plants in the city where the load is.

This is the result of democrat government. If I were PG&E, I’d scuttle my fleet of generators and transmission lines and walk away. Leave the hippies in the dark and let them fend for themselves.

people with serious respiratory disorders, etc. What happens to *them*?

We have that question about how the VA is taking “care of” the elderly. The bests choice WRTO the VA is to find a new place to live with better VA care of the elderly. I have a fractured L4 and now the disk space seems to have a nucleus pulposus problem as it is protruding. However, we are not treating the problem...we are applying lidocain patches to the area. We are not addressing the pain in my hips, my legs or feet and ankles...I wonder what they will say when I no longer feel my whole legs instead of just parts? “More patches, lady, that’ll take care of you.”

I think we need an elderly patient advocate for every single outrageous situation elders get into due to fiscal concerns of the local government, institution and or state. PGE is setting up for a suit...and they can’t say they didn’t know.

SoCal needs to cut its water link to the Colorado and get into ocean desalinization.

And quit water the Freeway Interchanges.

That is most unfortunate. Although it's true here at TVA too, but that's expected at a government entity. Obama's war on coal did a serious number on several good-running power plants in Tennessee. The whole industry, really.

Desalinization requires the use of a fairly large amount of energy, usually electricity. But it really is necessary to sustain the populations of southern Cali.

Alternatively, they could quit importing Mexicans and thus reduce the need for running water.
