I was never on FB, and I don’t care much for ‘social media’.
But what do we know about this MeWe?
Who owns it? What is it’s purpose? How do you know this isn’t more of the same, and there isn’t some evolutionary life cycle (or should I call it devolutionary?) where it gets more liberal over time?
Also, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, facebook is quite beatable. They have their hooks into a LOT of people right now, which is their great advantage, but besides mySpace, people forget that FB wasn’t really new. It was actually just a take-off of LiveJournal, which already had friending, post feeds, and customization profiles. It just didn’t focus as much on the school/organization groups, and it didn’t feature the newsfeed style of sharing & posting. There is nothing special about facebook except for how big it is

Of course I want people to comment. I just would prefer the comments not be dismissive. This is a high profile disabled vet whose lost his $300k+ investment for no good reason. If someone is prone to ridicule him, I’d rather they not take the time to add their ridicule to this conversation.
Of course Brian has his own website. He’s got several, for various reasons. Facebook isn’t where his website is. Facebook is where his audience is. Clicks from Facebook to his websites account for the vast majority of his sites’ traffic. He’s invested money to promote his Facebook page, which in turn promotes his website.
It’s like an ad in a newspaper for a magazine subscription. The magazine pays for ads in the newspaper, to bring more people to the magazine.
I’ve been doing internet stuff for 25 years, and Facebook stuff for over 10 years. I work with websites and online marketing. This is my world. Sometimes I forget that most people don’t fully understand the relationship between businesses and Facebook.

Whew -- so true on this thread! No understanding whatsoever of marketing, statistics, business or even arithmetic, but that hasn't stopped their proud pontificating.
