I think her DNA test initially came up empty until Carlos Bustamante threw in some Colombian, Peruvian, and Mexican markers, (perhaps his own?).
6. The DNA test does not prove Warren is Native American, at most there is “strong evidence” of a single ancestor dating back 6-10 generations, based on analysis that compares Warren’s DNA to numerous groups, including non-Native American groups.

Were it a substitute sample it would likely have showed no more remote an ancestor than three generations previous.When you get more remote than a great grandparent the reaction gets more like “so?”
