A Republican candidate for the Minnesota House said Monday that he is recovering after suffering a concussion from an attack at a restaurant in St. George Township a few days earlier.
Shane Mekeland is running for the House in District 15B, an open seat that includes parts of Benton and Sherburne County. He said that last Friday night, he was "blindsided" by an assailant as he spoke to patrons at a bar and restaurant he wouldn't identify.
Benton County Sheriff Troy Heck confirmed Monday that his office is investigating the alleged assault, which Mekeland reported took place between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Friday. Heck said his office interviewed the suspect, whose identity is not being released because he has not been arrested or charged with a crime.
In an email, Heck wrote that he expected the investigation to continue another 7 to 10 days before referring to the Benton County Attorney's Office for review.

Sounds like the Sheriff is trying to sit on it until after the election. I looked pretty hard and couldn’t find whether the Sheriff was a democrat or a Republican - even on the sample ballot.
Nary a peep from the media. Were it a GOP assailant on a Democrat candidate...
They’re busy covering stuff that didn’t happen over 30 years ago.
Libs are becoming violent because they can’t win at the ballot box.
They’re shutting down conservative web pages because they can’t win in the marketplace of ideas.
In short, they’re desperate, and Are willing to do whatever it takes to wrest back power from Americans.
How did the restaurant attack the candidate? Shut a door in his face? I’m guessing it was a person or persons in the restaurant, not the building itself.

I don't know how it works over there, but our Sheriff position is non-partisan. It has fooled a lot of people in the past. Best way to tell is if you can find out who donated to their campaigns.
That doesn't mean your Sheriff is.

That is strong Trump country. Is this man a Democrat needing some publicity? I am suspicious.
I googled the candidate, Shane Mekeland. He is a Republican. Sounds like the hot-headed Democrat got upset about something. Maybe it was the results of Sen, Warren’s DNA test.

I’ve heard of jurisdictions with non-partisan races for Judge, but I’ll confess ignorance of that practice for sheriff.
