What’s the point of sealing records if some judge can come along and unseal them?

I’m not a fan of this guy, but for me it’s not about him. It’s more about a certain political win for Obama back in the day where he was way behind the republican until he got divorce records unsealed, which destroyed the republican’s election efforts.

All court records are presumptively open except for certain exceptions like adoptions and juvenile. You don’t get other stuff sealed unless there’s a compelling need to do so, and because they contain embarrassing stuff is not such a reason. The point is that they never should have been sealed in the first place.
