Is this the most successful month of the Trump presidency?
BBC ^ | 10/16/18 | Nick Bryant

These days there seems to be even more of a swagger as Donald Trump strides across the South Lawn to board his green-liveried helicopter, Marine One.

Those campaign-style rallies, which have become such a marked feature of his presidency, have even more of a celebratory charge.

The president seems more willing to answer reporters' questions, partly because there is a better story to tell.

Last week he also sat for the first 60 Minutes interview of his presidency, which aired on Sunday night.

Even the notoriously liberal and internationalist BBC concedes that President Trump has been scoring one political victory after another. Let's hope that Trump uses this political momentum to get funding for the border wall.

Politically, it has been the most fun month of my life (I’m 64). Even more fun than November of 2016.

Don’t confuse success for Trump with media fatigue and effective ammo shortage within their platoons.

that will be next month.

Likely so. There will be no "blue wave" or even a blue trickle. The Democrats will pick up a net handful of house seats (nowhere close for a majority) and will probably have a net loss of Senate Seats (Heitkamp is a goner and Manchin is probably on his way out too, albeit for opposite reasons). That puts Trump in just the right place to achieve the rest of his agenda over the next two years.

I compare this to long distance bike riding. We’re on an exhilarating downhill right now. Sure, there are some uphills coming...

November will be, um, interesting - especially if we get a red wave. In either case, I’m buying more ammo. And no, I’m not kidding.

Oh, it won’t last, but I used my bicycling analogy in a follow up post. :)

Enjoy the downhills while you’re on them. The uphills are a comin’.

It is at the moment but the open borders crowd and cheap-labor express are scheming to dump thousands of people at the border just in time for the election.

Had he fired his deputy attorney general, we could have been in the midst of a full-blown constitutional crisis, with historical echoes of Richard Nixon's Saturday Night Massacre in October 1973.

So here's the thing. He fired the FBI director and that got him a Special Counsel investigation. If he fires the guy who' recommended firing the FBI director and is now overseeing the Special Counsel it's a full blown constitutional crisis. And if he fires the guy who recused himself and has no connection to the Special Counsel, that is also a full blown constitution crisis because ... reasons.

Basically the DOJ is now enshrined as it's own independent entity that neither the President nor Congress can oversee. Sounds like a great idea, right?

I voted no. I prefer my animals to be dead before I eat them, and not from diseases.
