Semper fi! G 2/5. There was a Sgt. Smith in our compa y who was KIA in the last few days of the Tet/Hue battle. He didn’t look tough. He attacked the enemy enough to be a Louis Lamoure hero. He was from Oakland, California.

Awesome man! Does anyone know where to find any deeper biographical info on him? He’s someone I’d like to know, I’m sure.

My friend, whom I have lunch with every week, was with Canley in
Alpha 1/1. He's at the WH right now for the ceremony.

In other news... John Kerry will be awarded his 4th purple heart, after blood samples taking from an old sock he wore while on duty in Vietnam showed signs of blood staining, likely from blister or some other foot malady.

I was in the air mobile assault that took back the racetrack in Saigon Cholon district then the cholon house to house Tet battle. From what I’ve read and heard from gyrenes, Saigon was a cake walk compared to Hue . Semper Fi. Marines.
