ISTANBUL His killers were waiting when Jamal Khashoggi walked into the Saudi consulate in Istanbul two weeks ago. They severed his fingers and later beheaded and dismembered him, according to details from audio recordings described by a senior Turkish official on Wednesday.
Mr. Khashoggi was dead within minutes, and within two hours the killers were gone, the recordings suggested.
The leaking of such details, on the same day Secretary of State Mike Pompeo was visiting Turkey, reflected an escalation of pressure by the Turkish government on Saudi Arabia and the United States for answers on the fate of Mr. Khashoggi, a prominent dissident journalist who wrote for The Washington Post.
Fifteen days after he entered the consulate in Istanbul and was never seen coming out, the Saudis have yet to give an explanation.
Top Saudi officials have repeatedly denied any involvement in Mr. Khashoggis disappearance denials that they repeated to Mr. Pompeo when he visited Saudi Arabia on Tuesday.
A team of 15 Saudi agents, some with ties to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, was waiting for Mr. Khashoggi inside the Saudi consulate the moment he arrived, at about 1:15 p.m. on Oct. 2.

it is their issue though.
We can’t defend Saudi Arabia on this atrocity.
I’m not interested in defending Saudi Arabia, can we please return to regularly scheduled events.
They could prove it by release the recording and all authenticating data
I don’t care what Saudi Arabia does to terrorists.
Dude must have had serious dirt on somebody. Any clintoon involvement?
Just goes to show that the US isn’t as bad as the left makes it out to be.
But three meals and a cot at GITMO is unspeakable cruelty...
Going pretty strong on the word of corrupt Turkish officials broadcast through the corrupt NY Times. Let’s wait and see who did what to whom.
I admit that I need to read up on this whole issue much more - but I’m wondering why a guy like Khashoggi would, given the Saudis intense dislike for him, even set put in a Saudi consulate.
IMHO, that’s asking for a whole heap load of trouble. Or did he think he was too important to be killed and nothing would happen to me?
How often does the NYT reports of other deaths of Saudi’s? Especially women who are stoned to death. Oh, they only care because this was a journalist?
If true, sounds like a warning directed at someone.
Good riddance.
Normally, when Muslims execute someone, the lefties defend it, calling Islam a religion of peace. And you better not criticize the Muslims or you’ll just make more Muslims, right?

When thy Lord inspired the angels, (saying): I am with you. So make those who believe stand firm. I will throw fear into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Then smite the necks and smite of them each finger.

When your Lord revealed to the angels: I am with you. So, make firm the feet of those who believe. I shall cast awe into the hearts of those who disbelieve. So, strike at the necks, and strike at every finger-joint of theirs.
This affair is not our business. This was not a US citizen involved. It is only being played up by the old-line media as a way to hurt Trump.
This journalist was a terrorist.
This journalist was a terrorist.
What's fascinating is no one in the DC in crowd wants to punish Saudi Arabia. We little folk don't understand why it wasn't Saudi Arabia we attacked after 911. I wonder what Saudi Arabia and their ally are capable of if they're called out on their bad behaviors designed to destabilize the Mideast for their benefit.
Actually we can and should. Anytime the media has their panties in a bunch about Trump then we KNOW they're covering something up.
Just read the frontpage article. I wondered why the media was making such a big deal out of someone nobody had heard of. The dude was either a muslim brotherhood terrorist or a spy for them. He got found out or did something wrong and either the Saudis took him out or he died doing something bad. NOW the press is trying to make him look like a respected journalist and theyre trying to make the case that See, Trump has made it unsafe for journalists around the world.
