Why Many Native Americans Are Angry With Elizabeth Warren
NY Times ^ | Octover 17, 2018 | Maggie Astor

If Senator Elizabeth Warren thought that releasing her DNA test results showing Native American ancestry would neutralize a Republican line of attack, she was wrong. The test — part of her strategic preparations for a likely presidential campaign — did not placate President Trump, who has mocked Ms. Warren as “Pocahontas” and once promised $1 million to a charity of her choice if a DNA test substantiated her claims of Cherokee and Delaware heritage. And her announcement of the results angered many Native Americans, including the Cherokee Nation, the largest of the country’s three federally recognized Cherokee tribes.

If they’re hoping for casino money they should think again. There are about 6000 tribes but only several hundred casinos. And only a handful of the casino tribes disburse dividend checks to their members. The rest are very closely held - like a private family corporation is. Calif had a few cases when casinos were first approved of tribal leadership voting out members left and right - who continue to have no recourse, state or federal.

The outcasts could band together and make their own tribes, (we had a group of 7 or 8 that tried that) but the existing tribes might challenge and that could get real expensive.

VERY astute observation.
Guess I’m guilty as charged since I thought she was only claiming Jeep ancestry.

“Do you mean the same natives who vote for her year after year after year and will vote for her again during her next election?”

You underestimate the number of Indians who hold these fake Indians in contempt, especially the Indian women. The Anishinabe tribe dealt with a good number of fake Indians in Michigan. They were rejected, thrown out of the community and told to never return.

Native Americans have always carried themselves with a dignity, and bravery, throughout history. Tribes were not monolithic, and neither are human beings.

Their greatest warriors still hold tremendous mystic and awe even today.

Names such as Geronimo, Red Cloud, and Sitting Bull are the stuff of legend.

The fact that this narcissistic, arrogant, entitled, lying b_tch has encroached on their very being by daring to pass herself off as a "Woman of Color" so that she could achieve advancement in Ivy League academic is so offensive that it is off the charts.

Worse, she is in a hole, and she keep digging herself deeper.

I had a DNA test, and I am more "Native-American" than she is. She is disgusting.

Yet - she will be reelected in 3 weeks. Incredible.

“This is a story about nothing. There is no right percentage of Cherokee blood, anywhere from zero to 100% is about the same from my perspective. I get the concern about her false claims and entitlement, but as an abstract philosophical question, the percentage of Cherokee blood in any given person is a non-issue and should be seen as such.”

The story is about a leading democrat exposed in a lie. That is something worth hammering, unless you think like a bushie.

So in 1773, fake indians rode the gray Beaver and threw tea into Boston harbor... Now in 2018, the party of "T" threw the fake Indians and poseurs into the media spotlight. 🎃

I care because grant money was given to help poor native Americans pay for college time, and she lied about her race to cheat some of that grant money away from those who were truly deserving of it.

White lies to defraud Indians, how Democrat of her.

I wish I could for just one evening be the host at whatever restaurant Fauxcahontas is eating at, so I could ask her: “Do you have a reservation?”

There are NO NATIVE AMERICANS!

We all of us are immigrants.

Some of us just got here earlier than others.
