Trump Vows To Send Millitary, Close Southern Border To Block Migrants

"As another "migrant caravan" has swelled to more than 4,000 hopeful "asylum seekers" marching toward the US's southern border, recently prompting the Mexican government to dispatch 500 additional border guards to its border with Guatemala, President Trump threatened to send in the military and close the US's southern border with Mexico in a tweet Thursday morning, after threatening to withhold aid from Honduras earlier in the week. Migrant

"After bashing Democrats for pushing for "open borders" and Honduras and Guatemala for having "almost no control" over their populations, Trump demanded that Mexico "stop this onslaught" at the country's border with the US. If they fail, Trump threatened to ("in addition to stopping all payments to those countries") "call up the US Military and CLOSE OUR SOUTHERN BORDER!"

The Mexican government could care less about this caravan.
What they care greatly about is keeping the border open for the cartels to smuggle drugs into our country. For which they are greatly rewarded in their offshore bank accounts.

Love Trump. Hit them in their wallets. That should get their attention.

Pres Trump: U.S. won't become a 'migrant camp'
The Washington Times ^ | June 18, 2018 | Stephen Dinan
FR Posted by jazusamo

President Trump challenged Democrats to “come to the table” to fix the country’s immigration system, saying Monday that the current battle is over whether the U.S. should have borders. Speaking at the White House Mr. Trump said the U.S. “will not be a migrant camp.”

He said if Congress can find agreement on a way to update what he called the “worst immigration laws in the entire world” it could be a trendsetting move for the rest of the globe. “Just remember — a country without borders is not a country at all. We need borders, we need security, we need safety,” Mr. Trump said. (Excerpt) Read more at washingtontimes.com …

Pres Trump said the U.S. “will not be a migrant camp.”

Nor should US border become an MS-13 recruitment center.

84 percent of minors detained at the border are teens. The vast majority are male......either MS-13 members now or about to be recruited by MS-13.

Do it today, KEEP them there full time, and deport en masse the ones who are already here.

Dear President Donald J. Trump.

In view of assault on our country by Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador, whose leaders are doing little to stop this large flow of people, INCLUDING MANY CRIMINALS, from entering Mexico to U.S.A

This represents wholesale human trafficking funded by Soros and others.

I would respectfully request that implement your Executive Order of December 20th 2017.

Namely:

I, therefore, determine that serious human rights abuse and corruption around the world constitute an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security, foreign policy, and economy of the United States, and I hereby declare a national emergency to deal with that threat.

The unrestricted immigrant and nonimmigrant entry into the United States of aliens determined to meet one or more of the criteria in section 1 of this order would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, and the entry of such persons into the United States, as immigrants or nonimmigrants, is hereby suspended.

Hereby determine and order:

Section 1. (a) All property and interests in property that are in the United States, that hereafter come within the United States, or that are or hereafter come within the possession or control of any United States person of the following persons are blocked and may not be transferred, paid, exported, withdrawn, or otherwise dealt in:

(i) the persons listed in the Annex to this order;

(ii) any foreign person determined by the Secretary of the Treasury, in consultation with the Secretary of State and the Attorney General:

(A) to be responsible for or complicit in, or to have directly or indirectly engaged in, serious human rights abuse.

>>it is not because of our fine men and women in blue it is because politicians have decided the laws are in their way.<<

Last night Lou Dobbs, who really should be retired, had a guest on from ICE or DHS, and Dobbs, instead of lambasting the stinking do-nothing politicians on Capitol Hill, was blaming our border patrol for failing to stop the invasion. What’s that tell you about that doddering old fool?

“Close the Border” could mean a variety of things.

Completely closing the border crossing points (the World’s busiest) would impact a lot of individuals, but would also disrupt a huge amount of scheduled deliveries, disrupting lots of businesses as well. Big businesses, like the automobile industry.

Sending 200,000 troops to stand guard along the entire 1,954 miles (four shifts of one every hundred yards (16/mile), plus eight for a reaction force per mile) would cost many billions per year in logistics, which have not been budgeted or appropriated. There are 476,000 in the Active Army (15% are Infantry), including those deployed Overseas, so it would likely require putting a lot of cooks, clerks, mechanics and medics on line as their full time job.

Policy changes could be implemented, or additional security (like a more limited military deployment) that would selectively “close the border” would be more likely.

For example, a few thousand active duty military could be sent for a month or two to reinforce the border patrol where this group is heading. That would be expensive, but doable out of the existing DoD budget, and would be a big escalation from past practice.

The border crossing points could close to pedestrians while allowing cargo, or to just certain classes of pedestrians (which would meet legal challenges). For example, only US citizens, or those carrying a new authorization document they would have to roll out.

A demonstration could be made for political effect, like closing the pedestrian crossing points for one day, to pressure the Mexican Government. There would be chaos for the cameras.

Although the press will likely lampoon the President’s “CLOSE THE BORDER” as foolishly unrealistic, there are a lot of steps that could be taken under that umbrella term, that would influence the Mexican Government to respond. Leverage, you might say.

>>How fast can they respond to the border, logistics, patrol on foot or vehicle, air coverage...?<<

If our military leadership is still capable of doing the job it is commissioned to do, about as long as it takes to get equipment and personnel on board and fly down there. In other words, within, say, 24 hours max.

One thing I learned in negotiations training back in the early 80’s is that you have more power than you think you have.

Apparently Trump is the first president in a couple of decades to get that. It’s so simple. If mexico allows these migrant trains to pass through their country on the way to the US, we just shut down the border completely, and let Mexico deal with that. It will hurt them a lot more than it hurts us.
